Let’s all pipe down and accept mediocrity.
Its not about that at all, Cavusevic didn't cost half that and he would have been very handy right now.

These owners aren't going to throw money away, they are football people. If they see a guy who costs half of what Bobo does but provides 75-80% of performance then hes the one theyll get.

We won the double with Bruce Djite as our striker, no offence to Bruce but he wouldnt make the top 10 in league history. It's about the right guy for the job.

You're right Bruce is 12th best. (If we're talking about most goals.) 2 more and he's equal 10th.

What is he on goals per game ?? Remembering he went a year without one. A guy like him would be all we would need.

I'm confident AP can be that player, but we need a guy in peak form. Our crossing has improved dramatically this season, we need that goal poacher. If Ilso can get and stay fit that would be great.

Here's AU's list of top 20 best goals per games. Obviously some are high on the list because their AU career isn't very long.

Name - Total Games - Total Gls - Gls per game
Johan Absalonsen 16 8 0.50
Sergio van Dijk 71 29 0.41
Michael Brooks 8 3 0.38
Fernando Rech 43 16 0.37
Pablo Sanchez 57 20 0.35
Jerónimo Neumann 53 17 0.32
Carl Veart 88 27 0.31
Mirko Boland 7 2 0.29
Tomi Juric 7 2 0.29
Ben Halloran 11 3 0.27
Bruce Djite 165 44 0.27
Sergio Cirio 114 30 0.26
Craig Goodwin 71 18 0.25
Shengqing Qu 32 8 0.25
Džengis Čavušević 4 1 0.25
Romario 4 1 0.25
Ryan Griffiths 4 1 0.25
Cristiano 61 15 0.25
Dario Vidosic 61 15 0.25
Mathew Leckie 41 10 0.24

One thing I find interesting is that Jeronimo and Pablo are high up there but weren't consistent starters.

Pablo Sanchez would have to be number 1 in goals per 90 minutes of time on the pitch.

Mitchell Duke is leaving his J-League club and hasn't announced any destination yet, i know he's been playing as a winger but he started life as a Center Forward and is a big strong lad. Could possibly do well with his size and pace up front for an a-league club.

I know there's some big Blackwood fans here. Nothing against the lad I think he has potential but I don't see why we're trying to develop 2 young strikers when we have such a small list. I'd rather we have a marquee striker, another experienced striker that can hold the line and 1 young up and comer. Seeming AP has come up through our ranks I'd rather it be him.

For me Bruce would be far more useful to this squad than Blackwood is. I know this isn't really an option in January but beyond that...

   for Pablo.

I also find it super interesting that many on here seem to know exactly what our owners do or do not have and what they will or will not do when very few people actually know who they actually are!

Still, seems they employ many accountants and all are very active in this board 😀

Reports coming out of Japan that Berisha is considering joining either us, City or Sydney.

I don't care if you think he's a dickhead, I would take him in a heartbeat.

Gee I'd feel very conflicted, but he would be well worth it. Cheaper than Bobo too you'd imagine.

Wonder why it didn't work for him in Japan.

Yes, I'd love a marquee striker to replace Baba, as I can't see him playing for us again.

Bobo - would be my first choice, but doubt we could afford him (unless we can access some of the league's MV-Sydney slush fund money).

Berisha - would be excellent, but it would be really hard to stomach. I don't know if could actually even clap when his name was read out. Even scoring goals I'd have to convince myself I was cheering the team/result not him.

Djite - surely we can do better, but if he's all we can get then it's better than nothing, and he'd have my full support.

I have it on good authority (and don’t ask who) that Bruce is returning on an injury replacement contract to see out the season.

Stay tuned. An announcement will be made Friday.

I couldnt bring myself to support berisha at aufc.

Surely a certain level of integrity needs to remain with plauer selection.

Im not saying all victory players are off the table ( jeggo and galekovic were amazing ) however there are some players where its almost insulting to fans if we sign them.

I put berisha in the same basket as muscat managing us!

On the other hand i could stomach fornaroli and bobo.
