Well yeah - we can disagree with the approach but as far as I'm concerned whoever signs for us gets the benefit of the doubt

The club has so far been run to the highest standard sensible aufc fans could expect, i mean we actually paid not one but two transfer fees and it appears we have a long term plan with people who have passion for the club.

If the pay off for this is a chinese 3rd division visa player then ill take it!

My only concern is if an average chinese youth player gets minutes over a local lad of the same ability simply because the ROI on the chinese lad is potentially much higher.

Agree, it doesnt matter who you are or what you've done in the past, I only care about how you play for AUFC. Sure it's interesting to discuss players former clubs and potential but in the end it doesn't matter. You can be the relatively unknown Marcos Flores/Matthew Leckie that works out amazingly for the club or you can be a former Real madrid player like Miguel Palanca and never really gel into the team.

If the player is coming from our sister club, then yes its 3rd div China.
Lets consider this:
- Their first div plays our first div off the park
- SANPL is tenuously 2nd div, its a way off VICNPL and NSWNPL, one could argue it's 3rd div here.
- We're rightly cheering the signing of Toure from our "2nd div"
- We're concerned about signing a player from the Chinese 3rd div

The logic doesn't add up. As bpowell above says, let's see how he plays before we get too concerned.

Top of SANPL is definitely equivalent to Vic & NSW. Campbelltown & MetroStars have both won the national champs and SA clubs have a pretty good FFA Cup record.

All that aside though, you're right, there's no reason to think we couldn't unearth a gem from Chinese 3rd div.

In the interview Piet had with the Advertiser after the Kurz decision he talked about their youth setup
“The under-6 are the best team in the division and two players have qualified for the national under-17 team in China with our club which is now at the same level as where the City (Football) Group bought the (Chinese) club (Sichuan Jiuniu) two weeks ago.
I imagine it's these sorts of players that they'd be bringing over to get experience, some might swim in which case good for us, others might sink in which case we probably won't see a lot of them.

Wait and see I guess.

It does add up.

CSL clubs don't play us off the park. Their foreigners carry them.

Campbelltown is arguably the best NPL side in the country however the Vic and NSW NPL's are considered to be stronger though.

Rumors that we approached city and offered a loan deal for Rostyn Griffiths. City rejected the offer.

Even if our chinese player turns out to be a dud should we really be concerned?

Aleague clubs traditionally take a risk on one visa signing where the player may have alot of promise but carries much risk. Im fine with it.

Our SANPL sides have always performed strongly against interstate opposition; Campbelltown and MetroStars come to mind.

The only reason to be concerned is if he's a dud yet still continue to play him week in and out because of an apparent agenda from the owners.

It doesn't seem likely to me

Yes, we are wasting a visa spot on a player who probably won't ever make the bench and we desperately need a minimum of 1-2 starting XI quality players.

At this stage, we'd be lucky to avoid a wooden spoon battle.

Only u23 players can be loaned so it would have to have been a swap deal.

I'd say that's a bit dramatic, fans from other clubs appear to be talking us up just with the squad we currently have.

Whoever we get will probably be better than Ilso and fitter than Baba.

I don't think so. The other clubs around us have improved their squad but we haven't. The Western Bitumens have a decent squad as well.

Yes we have a 10 in McGree and a 9 in Opseth but we still haven't replaced Goody and Isaias and don't have any visa spots left. Unless we somehow sign Jedinak and find a winger from somewhere, we are going to struggle.
