What about the two NYL players we announced a few weeks back?

Edit: Never mind that was Elsey and Mabil!

Edit again: Teeboy is still at the club.

I dare say if Barbs and Kosto haven't been re-signed by now then they won't be? Ok by me really.

Which, despite their shortcomings as players, would be kind of sad - especially Barbs, long-standing servant to the club. I guess there's not much room for sentiment in modern football, with a limited squad you can't afford to fill positions on loyalty.

Exactly when you see kids like Mullen running around in MV shirts you know how much loyalty is worth in the HAL.

Thats why every time Barbs gets on the field I hope that he shows something, something to give reason and validity for a contract extension other than loyalty. Because I know if there isn't, he ain't staying for long, that makes me sad. He has always showed passion for the shirt, even when team mates around him hadn't.

Barbs is a true club man. The game has just passed him by. A few critical injuries just when he was at his peak have really stunted his development.

I don't actually like watching him play anymore.

Some great memories from him though.

ADELAIDE United has put discussions with its remaining uncontracted players on hold until it appoints a new coach, leaving unsigned trio Iain Ramsay, Fabian Barbiero and Evan Kostopoulos with a nervous wait.

The Reds want to leave their next coach the flexibility to have some input on the make-up of the squad, which has just three unfilled positions for the 2013-14 A-League season.

"That's exactly the reason why (we've put discussions on hold)," Reds' football director Michael Petrillo said.

Good idea IMO. I think having a coach walk in to a squad already selected for next season would be a big restriction. The coach we bring in might be a foreigner that has connections in their own country and could bring someone awesome with them like Lavička did with Kisel.

The new coach gets to choose 3 new players on small wage.... Yep very flexible

We have a free marquee spot and unless the rules have changed two of the free spots could be visa signings too. If those three are minimum wage then the club has $135,000 to work with if one new signing turns out to be marquee then the club has $77,500 for each player.
