Elsey is a future Socceroo I think, at least at the Sainsbury / Wilkinson sort of level. He'd be there already if it wasn't for his horror injury run.

I agree. The big question mark I had of him was his discipline, he flew in with late challenges too often and picked up too many yellows.
That's not an issue for him this season. It's unlikely the club will have Gulum next season so Elsey is a MUST sign. I just hope the club identify where he's at and don't offer him a something pathetic.
He's clearly in the top 10 HAL CBs so I'd hope he's offered a contract reflecting that.

I'm not doubting that Elsey is likely to leave, but why would he?

- AU have a better record of getting young players to Europe than WSW.
- At a guess AU have got more guys in the past few years to Socceroos camps and squads than WSW.
- AU have more chance of playing ACL than WSW

Look at Malik, did his career progress at all since leaving AU ?
