Yup, Strain is a big loss. He deserves his chance overseas though, and I hope he does well.So far the only player i'm really dissapointed in losing is Strain and to a lesser extent Pacifique, the rest have either not proven themselves on the training track or proven to not be good enough at senior level to compete with the best teams.
Other than that we need to remember we are owned by a player agent and the no1 goal of the club is to develop and sell young players.

Easily one of the most underrated players in the league.Yup, Strain is a big loss. Good luck to him in Israel.

I'm concerned we've lost N.Smith, Elsey, Jako, Abetew, Marrone, Strain. So far the only player i'm really dissapointed in losing is Strain and to a lesser extent Pacifique, the rest have either not proven themselves on the training track or proven to not be good enough at senior level to compete with the best teams.

Now in isolation losing any two or three of them is ok, but together it is basically the entire backline bar Lopez and Timotheau, so we'll be starting from scratch.
Add to the mix 5 of the 6 are local products and only one has brought a free, it's a bitter pill.

Jakobsen has agreed to stay.
I was very shocked at the news and I'm delighted he's staying another year.

Elsey gone.
Thanks for everything and pity he was seemingly forced out.

Seems like they lowballed everyone, do we stand by for more 16 - 18 yo’s?

In saying the above, Elsey has been very hot and cold and may be best for both parties to move on. Fingers crossed Goodwin will be announced along with a few more QUALITY senior signings.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Elsey is a huge loss. He saved us countless times this season. He's not the most cultured player but he's quick enough, works hard and has learnt to read the game and not give away too many fouls. If Timo is the replacement we're in very big trouble.
I hope the club hasn't low-balled him too much but there comes a time when players look to move on or find a better deal. That's football. And our club structure means we'll always be trying to bring new players on. Hopefully we'll have sufficient experience to scaffold them as they learn but it's always a gamble.
My main hope is that we'll move swiftly and not be still trying to build the squad two weeks before we kick off. If Carl has time to work with whatever line-up we settle on then we'll be ok.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I loved Elsey cus he was a local lad and played his heart out, but take out that and he was a middling player who has cost us a lot of points over the years.
If the club recruits well he isn't that hard to replace tbh.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Looks like the owners are cutting spending which would explain why Elsey was forced out and why we are starting a completely unnecessary rebuild.

Juric is reportedly off to Macarthur as a replacement for Matt Derbyshire.
Another big blow.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I guess we will wait for all other clubs to make signings and then sign the leftovers?
Just seems concerning the Jets with no owners were able to offer more to elsey than us. If Juric also goes to Macarthur after all their high profile signings, it would appear that yet again AU are paying peanuts. Whilst nothing new at AU, I thought the current owners had promised better than what we have seen in imports and senior signings to date. Our youth is good, but as the previous season concluded I felt most other clubs showed they also have good youth. Again the best clubs had the best senior and imports and that is what makes the difference just as it did for us in our championship year.
Losing Djite IMO is a big loss, just felt he was a big part of the improved positivity around AU.
