Im willing to bet signings have been made but the club are waiting for the world cup to finish so they can get some clean air regard to media attentionThe early player signings we have made were very promising but I feel like we really need to make some key signings very soon. Squad is quite threadbare.

Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season
I agree we don't look stronger than last year YET but I think it definitely will be by the time the season starts. A fit Baba should improve the team a lot.Agree, we don't look stronger than last season at the moment and that is disappointing. The early player signings we have made were very promising but I feel like we really need to make some key signings very soon. I don't want to play the first FFA cup game with a makeshift team like we did against Redlands FC.
Need a LB, a RW, a 10 and a box to box mid (in no particular order).
Also need Baba to be injury free and have a full preseason.
Re: Who's signed for next season
Ben Halloran's contract in Japan has been terminated.
Midfielder, 26. Would be a handy Aus addition.

Re: Who's signed for next season
We don't need him, he is a winger and I am not sure he is better than we already have signed. Would rather start MIluesnic and Goodwin with Kitto, Kristin Konstandopoulos, Niyongabire and Armiento as back up.Ben Halloran's contract in Japan has been terminated.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Major Announcement at 4pm tomorrow.
There is a video on the club's official Facebook with a quick soundgrab at the end of a male voice saying "looking forward to score for you".
Goal.com are saying that it's this guy-
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Ils%C3%B8
Ken Ilso, a 31 year old Danish striker/attacking midfielder.
Decent resume but he has only been playing in Malaysia and Singapore most recently. Seems like a gamble.
Kurz coached at Fortuna Dusseldorf but that was 2 years after Ilso left. Unless Kurz was working at Dusseldorf behind the scenes, just not as head coach?

He uploaded a video on his Instagram yesterday about moving on to a new adventure. There is already a comment saying welcome to AUFC.The 183cm attacker has been particularly prolific in the Asia over the past few years, scoring 35 goals in 51 games for Singapore's Home United between 2015-16 and also 15 strikes in 18 matches for Malaysia's Kedah FC last year.
The Heerenveen youth product has also played for German clubs Fortuna Dusseldorf and VfL Bochum, and enjoyed a stint with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F.

This explains the reasoning he moved to Asia. Basically he wants to travel. Definitely sounds the same

Re: Who's signed for next season
Ken Ilso was a teammate of Robbie Kruse at Foruna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga in 2012-13. Kruse went from there to Bayer Laverkusen while Ilso went to 2.Bundeslia, China, Singapore and Malaysia.
He seems to have been a number 10 type, played in behind the striker in the Bundesliga in a 4-2-3-1 formation. but earlier in his career and more recently has played mostly as a striker scoring large numbers of goals.
So either the rumors about Baba leaving were true and he is Baba's replacement, or if Baba is staying he can play as a number 10 and cover for Baba if he is injured. If the later it could be a smart signing, but not a hugely impressive CV and I would have thought we could find something a bit better to replace Baba.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Very interesting CV!
It would appear he had a very good career in Europe and left it behind to play in china ( presumably with a huge financial winfall )
Looks like he has bounced around asia scoring for fun possibly falling in love with the asian life style which would fit in with the idea that he has used football as a means to travel.
Probably wouldnt demand a large salary either, supposing he is a direct baba replacement he will fit under the cap leaving a marquee position for quality 10
We can only hope

Re: Who's signed for next season
Very tough to tell how he will go on with a CV like that. He could be gone by Christmas or be the clinical striker we've been after all these years. According to wiki he's scored loads of goals in the last couple of years although I'd imagine the Malay and Singapore leagues are a bit of step down to the HAL. Maybe our Asian correspondent Blahblah can give us a bit more incite on those two leagues and whether goal scoring form there may translate to scoring form at HAL level?
Time to Djbate!

Re: Who's signed for next season
The club posted another teaser and said that it's a #10
In other news, Mark Milligan has been released from his middle east club. Adrian Merjewivski and Bobo both sold by Sydney FC.

Re: Who's signed for next season
It might not mean he is a number 10, although that does not rule it out either, but Ilso wore number 10 for Fortuna Dusseldorf. They might be referring to that not that he is going to be a number 10 for us.The club posted another teaser and said that it's a #10

Re: Who's signed for next season
It's definitely Ken Ilso.
The mystery man's shoes that are in the video on AUFCs Facebook are the exact same ones the Ilso is wearing in the alot of his recent instagram posts.
They also just put out another teaser saying that it is an AM/ST.
Case closed. Cue theme music.
