Re: Who's signed for next season
So from this list we have some updates:
OUT OF CONTRACT
Johan Absalonsen - back to Denmark, not confirmed
Dzengis Cavusevic
Tarek Elrich - gone to WSW, all but confirmed
Jordan Elsey
Ben Garuccio
Ersan Gulm (end of loan) - to Melb City, not confirmed
Vince Lia - re signed a 1 year extension
Mark Ochieng
Jordan O’Doherty
If we are losing Johan and Ersan, Goodwin and Jakobson (sp?) would be ample replacements. We wouldn't be losing too much.

Would be fantastic if Goodwin returned here. Champ. If there was a choice between extending Absalonsen's stay and bringing Goody back, I'd take Goodwin.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

He's a lesser player but it's negligible because he frees up a foreign spot. Would have loved to have both of them but can understand Johans reasons for returning.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Where has the Johan going home rumour sprung up from? I mean he's off-contract, but he seemed content here, and when he was playing well, the whole team was as well.
EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the Val article.

Also Goodwin's age is a plus. We might hold onto him for 2 or 3 seasons or more, whereas Johan is getting on a bit. He's a lesser player but it's negligible because he frees up a foreign spot. Would have loved to have both of them but can understand Johans reasons for returning.

Signing Elsey should be a priority.
Goodwin coming back would be a great boost.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Goodwin coming home is fantastic.
We should always strive to fill key attacking positions with quality aussie players as it allows more flexibility in where we decide to place an import.
Im happy to keep Lia, some experience and grit in a young squad is a positive.
Does baba stay or go and do we get a quality 10 are the big questions in the offseason.
Slightly off topic, i feel for guys like tongyik and kamau who clearly had great experiences with gombau sign deals at wsw only for him to be sacked

Elsey 3 year deal!
Just look at AUFC pursuing and making key signings for the 18/19 season before the current grandfinal has been played!
Have something changed in the board room or something ?

Reckon we can thank the Wanderers for this one.
Also, good news about Lia, definetly played his role when fit.
