Re: Who's signed for next season
Has anyone ever actually seen Mells play for more than 5 mins at the end of games?
Is he actually all that, or is he 'one for the future' in the hope that he'll improve?
Signing Mauk tells me that Amor feels our midfield needs a bit more depth, maybe he sees him as a better prospect as cover for Carrusca/Jeggo than Mells is currently.

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Didn't he start a couple of games earlier in the season when Carrusca was benched? I would say he was solid without being outstanding. Pretty comfortable on the ball.Has anyone ever actually seen Mells play for more than 5 mins at the end of games?

Agree. For an 18 year old I'm happy with where he is at and I can see him developing further.Didn't he start a couple of games earlier in the season when Carrusca was benched? AU have an option to sign him for next season I hear so I would presume the ball is in their court to make the signing.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Though he'll be handy this season, I think Mauk is a move more for next season.
He can play most of the positions Pablo plays so it will enable us to move him on (as much as it pains me to say it). Babalj's loan will end and that can allow us to sign a Visa striker be it Van Dijk or someone else.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Yeah that makes sense. I love Pablo but I would be very sceptical about AU signing him for another season.Though he'll be handy this season, I think Mauk is a move more for next season.
He can play most of the positions Pablo plays so it will enable us to move him on (as much as it pains me to say it). Babalj's loan will end and that can allow us to sign a Visa striker be it Van Dijk or someone else.
My only real concern about this move is that I feel it leaves AU's CB stocks pretty thin. Elsey, McGowan and La Rocca are the only players with HAL experience there now. (I know Warland has played once). I feel its pretty clear another CB needs to come in but I'm torn whether Tongyik or a player with more experience should come in.

Re: Who's signed for next season
It does seem like they have a fair bit of faith in Tongyik and Warland. They need to get experience sometime and if the coaching group think they're worth a punt then that's great.Yeah that makes sense. Also it'd be great to see how these two who have 50+ matches in our youth teams supposedly playing the same way, slot in to our senior team. Good test for the theory!

When Warland and Smith made their debuts at HAL level last season they appeared to be comfortable.
My main issue is that young CBs seem to be much more aggressive than older more experienced CB's which is why we've seen Elsey already suspended after only 8 games. Where as McGowan with a bit more experience under his belt is still going strong even though he's played in all 15 of AU's HAL games this season.

My feeling is that it will take years and years for the place to change socially, regardless of the embargo being lifted. There will be more tourists but there are already heaps in certain spots (mostly Europeans, with Canadians on package tours at the beach resorts).Cuba would have been amazing. Would love to get there before the trade embargo ending changes things too much but I doubt I will.i was in cuba ... couldn't even get on WATR!

Re: Who's signed for next season
That's an interesting take and I think you might be onto something... Mauk as an all-purpose attacking squaddie leaves Pablo a little bit redundantThough he'll be handy this season, I think Mauk is a move more for next season.
