AUFC v MVFC

Postby bpowell454 Mon Feb 04, 2013 8:54 pm

Adelaide United FC will take on Melbourne Victory on Friday 8 February 2013 at Hindmarsh Stadium in Week 20 of the Hyundai A-League 2012/13 Season (Kick-Off 7:00pm ACDT). Tickets for the match are available through Ticketek.

Training Schedule
Tuesday 5/2/13 - Conditioning Session 9.00am (AUFC Gym)
Wednesday 6/2/13 - Training 10.00am (Hindmarsh Stadium)
Thursday 7/2/13 - Training 6.00pm (Hindmarsh Stadium)
Friday 8/2/13 - HAL Week 20 v Melbourne Victory (Hindmarsh Stadium, Kick-Off 7.00pm ACDT)
Saturday 9/2/13 - Recovery 10.30am (Glenelg Beach)
Sunday 10/2/13 - Rest Day

Injury & Suspension Update
Nigel Boogard - suspended (1 match)
Bruce Djite - groin (awaiting scan results)
Fabio Ferreira - groin (4-5 weeks)

Wow, Fabio seems to be getting further and further away. One positive Boogard is having a forced break, would love to see Watson, Bowles and Kostopolous rested this week minimum.

This lineup is too attacking but I think it may be the best possible XI on current form (Elsey and Mabil form unknown but couldn't be worse than the alternatives)

---------Galeckovic----------
Elsey-McKain-Golec-Cassio
------------Malik------------
Mabil-----Vidosic---Carrusca
--------------Jeronimo-------
---------Bruce----------------

Ramsay, Fyfe, Barbiero

Tough game, I feel like Thompson and Rojas are going to get behind our defense frequently and easily. I hope we don't get obliterated and I'm really worried its a good chance that ukulele playing asshole is going to have a good game. I for one will be booing him intensely every time he touches the ball and trying to start "what a waste of money" chants at every opportunity.

So last game certainly answered one question. Can we play with a false 9 system? NO!
We certainly need a target man, so if Bruce is out who can do it? Surely its got to be Kosto. Although we do have Jero back but he hasn't really impressed me as the lone striker yet.

Hopefully Bruce pulls thru!
Also we are desperate for some quality on the wing. Dario was the only one on Sunday offering anything out there and thats not his position.
I'd either chuck Dario or Jero on the right wing and hopefully Micky V isn't as blind to Kosto's faults as Kossie was.
Personally in times of crisis for clubs the best thing you can possibly do is get your defense secure. Bowles has potential going forward but his defending is still leaving mush to be desired. Where as Watson is looks safer at the back but on the other hand, going forward reminds me of someone walking up the wrong escalator in a shopping centre. But for now lets just settle the back line and worry about going forward later.

-----Galekovic-----
Watson-Fyfe-Golec-Cassio
-----Malik-----
Mabil/Melling-Vidosic-Carrusca-Ramsey
-----Jeronimo-----

Harsh leaving McKain out after last week, but Malik really has been the missing link. A bit weak on the right with Watson and either the untried Mabil or Melling..

May as well give Mabil a shot. At least that gives us an extra little option to add to our game tactically and dimensionally.

McKain needs to start and play the full 90 in the CDM role. He's our key at the moment.

I'd drop Jero into midfield and have a shot playing with a strikerless formation. Jero is the only player on our team who can EPL-grade deliver defence-splitting passes. That way, rather than risk him being isolated, he can alternate run s, passes and shots with Dario and Carrusca, and even Ramsay and Kosto.

If bruce is fit then i think jero needs to start on the wing. sure he doesnt have the pace but neither does kostopolous and jero would be very effective cutting inside.

Mckain definetely needs to start. He won alot of fans last week the guy has the heart of a lion and im very pleased he is finally getting a chance to show us.

Hope valkanis grows some balls and replaces kostpolous with Mabil . Back the kid to do the job!! Its not as if we can really win the prem now and unlikely we can fall further then 4th place so why not ?

Feels like the AU/MV clashes from a few years back where you go into the game with little to none expectations.

Feels depressing.

Heard Valkanis say in a sound clip on the radio news this morning. He said were still in a with a good chance to make the top 6. Good to see he's aiming high.

Why say anything lower than our current position? Already conceding 11 championship points?

d'oh. That's ambition!

My formation for the week is a 4-4-2 diamond - Rambo and Jeronimo up front with Dario in behind. Why the hell not eh.

------------Euge--------------
Watson---Fyfe---Golec---Cassio
-----------McKain-------------
---Malik-----------Carrusca---
-----------Vidosic-----------
------Jeronimo--Ramsay--------

Bench: Barbiero, Bowles, Kosto/Mabil
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Ramsay would excel when playing closer to the middle on the left, especially as a midfielder.
