Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion
I'll just move this here mate.Tonight is the first-ever AUFC Players Night. It's at 7pm at the Playford Civic Centre and there's still tickets left. I think we may hear something there. Is anyone going? It's cheap at just $25pp.

Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion
A number of people wanting answers from the club on issues. Anyone go along to players Q&A last night? Surely a few questions on recruitment would have been asked then.

To be fair, I'm not sure a players night is the right forum for those sorts of questions. Isaias and Euge wouldn't be able to answer much regarding recruiting.Oh well. Yeah true. Although Euge has cracked it towards the club in the past I didn't really expect to much in the way of recruitment goss.To be fair, I'm not sure a players night is the right forum for those sorts of questions. Yeah I'm sure behind the scenes the players are as frustrated as we are about the current situation but those guys are too classy to let loose in an official club function.Yeah true. Which is normal. How many of us would bag out our boss publicly?

Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion
A mate asked Friday night whether mathematically Adelaide could still make the finals, I said probably but last night I decided to check and knocked up spreadsheet and ran a routine to find the highest Adelaide could finish, it's 3rd! (behind Sydney & Victory). It does rely on very specific results and I've shown it below (sorry about the lack of formatting).
The really weird thing is the last result I put in was the Sydney derby, and the scenario it came up with for next was a two all draw for Brisbane v Perth which was the actual score. Anyway for those not playing one game at a time, it is interesting.
Team Points Wins Draw Loss GD
Sydney FC 56 16 8 3 32
Melbourne Victory 55 17 4 6 19
Adelaide United 35 10 5 12 -3
Newcastle Jets 34 8 10 9 -1
Brisbane Roar 34 8 10 9 -3
Melbourne City 33 8 9 10 1
Perth Glory 32 8 8 11 -8
Western Sydney Wanderers 31 7 10 10 -11
Wellington Phoenix 29 8 5 14 -10
Central Coast Mariners 29 8 5 14 -17

Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion
I don't think what you have done is the best scenario as far as points goes. My way of thinking about is that,
1. We need to win every game.
2. We cannot catch Sydney even if we win every game and they lose every game so it is best for us that they win every game except against us.
3. We cannot catch Victory even if we win every game and they lose every game so it is best for us that they win every game except against us.
4. Draws put as few points as possible into the table so if we make all the games draws then there will be the least amount of points possible for other teams in total. However adjusting a few results might make the margin of us ahead of the next team higher.
So if we put everything as draws except for points 1 to 3, games between Sydney and Victory have no impact on our position so the result does not matter.
So I get this table as being mathematically possible.
Sydney 20 6 66
Victory 17 4 55
Adelaide 10 5 35
Perth 8 8 32
Brisbane 7 11 32
City 7 9 30
WSW 7 9 30
Newcastle 5 14 29
CCM 8 5 29
Wellington 7 7 28
So this means we could actually lose either of our games against Victory and CCM and finish 3rd assuming we score enough goals to overcome goal difference issues.

Yeah........and if your powerball numbers come up you can retire early too, which is far more likely than us making the finals let alone coming third.
To be honest, all i am aiming for is not to finish dead last

Good grief Have you seen our next three games? Victory away, Wanderers away (with a trip to China in between), Brisbane at home after another ACL mid-week match.I don't think what you have done is the best scenario as far as points goes. My way of thinking about is that,
