Important Notice: We Are The Reds Closure
Good Evening Guys,
Regrettably, I have decided to retire We Are The Reds, in entirety, effective end of the 2012/2013 season.
In the interim, the forums will remain active for you to utilise as per normal.
If anyone here is willing to build a new forum elsewhere, I am happy for you to take the reins and members can start registering new accounts so you can continue to stay in contact.
This has been a decision I had contemplated a few months ago, and I think now is the time for me to step back and let the community prosper however the Club and community see fit.
The vision I had for WATR hasn't panned out the way I had hoped, and I thank those of you whom contributed to We Are The Reds during its time here.
I have met some very nice people and made very good friends on these forums, and I thank you for that.
Albeit the sad news, a sincere Merry Christmas and safe holidays to you and your families.
Regards,
Shane.

Devastated to hear that you've come to this decision.
I'd hope to be safe in assuming that AU's lack of active interest in WATR was no help?

I'll take over hosting at the end of the season so we can at least keep the forums going.

This sad news, I love this site to pieces, even though i dont always post im always on here after the games reading the Match Day Jamboree's, seeing what everyone thinks of the game.
Lets try and make this fan run website then, get as many members on board as possible, and have someone in charge of a specific thing, eg posting up news stories or moderating the forums.I'll take over hosting at the end of the season so we can at least keep the forums going.
We are UNITED, after all....
Re: Important Notice: We Are The Reds Closure
The decision was made as I feel the direction Adelaide United is headed in is backwards.
I contacted the club twice a few weeks ago, once by email and the other by phone, to ask them to promote the red alliance gatherings and basically received no email reply and a snotty lady on the end of the phone whom advised they cant due to not being allowed to 'advertise businesses'.
Couple the above with the fact there is segregation within supporters groups at Hindmarsh, the community is not whole and there are too many agendas.
In almost 10 years, this club has failed to actively promote and market active support in what Western Sydney has managed to achieve in 6 months.
From a site perspective, if this site were to prosper, I would have had many requests to help in all areas, alas this was also not the case.
One cannot continue to run a site, put hours into delivering podcasts and continue to give to the community with no help in return.
This is what you asked for and so I'm giving it to you.
This may not be what you want to hear, but its how it is.
I sincerely hope your new site prospers, but it will take people step up, commit and actually 'want' to be involved.

What are we going to have to do to get sorted and keep this site up? How many volunteers will we need etc?

I'm sorry to read about your decision Shane but I understand your reasons for wanting to move on.
Thank you for your good work.
The Internationals would like to continue supporting the WATR forums in whatever way we can.

Again, money is not the problem and never will be in regards to hosting.

It's a shame that the resurgence didn't grab like everyone was hoping, hopefully the forums can continue on in its current state.
