New web site p****s off A-league/FFA-☢

Postby sevengoals Sat Oct 13, 2012 5:25 am

Have I missed something?

This new web site.
( A "rebel" website.)

http://www.adelaidereds.com.au/default.aspx
http://www.adelaidereds.com.au/news/p16.aspx

has pissed this mob off.
FFA officials said the AdelaideReds website was not officially endorsed, while Optus said the company was happy for the FFA to comment on its behalf last night.

Have we got official FFA/A-league endorsement?

What is this?
One party,one line state?

(If this thread has been started somewhere else let me know and I will merge them.)

So much for 'We are football'; maybe if Optus' plastic, one-fits-all sites weren't so terrible, then clubs wouldn't create 'rebel' sites.

Urban Dictionary has an interesting definition for 'Bohan'; just one letter's difference.

What next? People talking about the A League without mentioning a car maker? Discussing game highlights without crediting the broadcaster? FFS.

And as an Optus customer, I can tell you exactly what they have delivered to promote the A-League to its customer base: fark all.

actually they have been forcing the aleague on its customers. they pre installed the aleague android app on some handsets. check out the android marketplace comments - apparently it is unable to be removed and is pissing off plenty of people.

They don't dislike the app, it's just bloatware. Offers so little, yet takes up so much.

No idea the app even existed, despite having been with Optus for 5 years now. Still, its obviously crap.

If this is a Rebel website, is the FFA the Empire?

Not sure if it's the same article but in one they had a crime stoppers background in the picture. lol.

Adelaide United Members Club is proud to launch a new website specifically designed for all of its members and supporters.
Thats at the top of the screen as soon as you open the page, rebel website, I think not.

I find it strange that as soon as links to Greg Griffin's interview on TWG go up on AdelaideReds where Griffin speaks out on the current rules in place, the FFA have a little cry about the website.

League sees red over rebel United website

Postby Shane Mon Oct 15, 2012 3:39 pm

A-LEAGUE boss Damien de Bohun says that Adelaide United operating a rebel website in direct competition with million-dollar partner Optus is worrying.

On the eve of the A-League signing off a lucrative TV rights deal with Fox Sports and SBS, said to be worth at least $35 million a year for five years, the AdelaideReds website is against the principles of keeping clubs uniform when it comes to Football Federation Australia's bargaining power.

"One thing I'm clear on is that we have a tremendous partnership with Optus and they're our major partner. We understand that, we respect that and we work closely with them," de Bohun said.

"If there is a genuine fans' or supporters' website that is taking the football message out there, that's great (but) at the same time we need to make sure. We're speaking to the club about it.

"Since announcing our partnership with Optus to create, operate and manage our websites, we have had consistent high levels of traffic to all sites."

Total over reaction from FFA.

Maybe if the FFA and Optus could get a half decent site going the club wouldn't resort to this. Considering that Optus is a mobile phone company and the site suck on mobiles just highlights how useless they are. Optus the same company I cancelled my contract with before I moved to UK only for them to continue charging me so I had to spend £40 in phone calls to get them to stop. Twats! F-off and die!
