AUFC v Western Sydney
Looking forward to this immensely for obvious reasons - first A-League home game, great signs from the team and some exciting new players to watch. Also hanging out to see Shinji Ono in action, and there's a bit of curiosity in seeing a brand spanking new team (hopefully getting put to the sword).
I reckon we should be aiming for a bumper crowd, but then again I was expecting a bumper crowd for our home ACL game and was a bit disappointed...

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
I think we will get around 12k.
Lot more people are interested and know about the A-League compared with the ACL.
First home game of the season is usually a pretty good showing.

12k sounds about right, NRMAIWSW are going to have to have a big improvement in their play if they want to worry us defensively.

I reckon about 12K crowd.
Will have to leave home earlier to make sure I get a decent (an close) parking spot.
I'm getting to old to walk all the way from Clipsal on Park Tce to the ground when arrive a bit late.
Like many others I'm looking forward to see the new chums and how they perform.

Mega pumped for Friday night. Insert any other adjective to describe my excitement!
So many reasons for the casual AU supporter to get down to Hindmarsh: new club, first home match, good win, exciting squad and the 'homecoming' or 'welcome back' match for the knowledgeable.

I'm skeptical we'll get 12,000 - crowds are easy to lose and hard to regain. Sustained success this year will get us back to 10,000 I'd expect.
Hope I'm wrong of course, 15,000 at Hindmarsh is an unparallelled experience.

I know money doesn't grow on trees but I wish the club would do more advertising and try to get the players into the spotlight a bit more with some more regular radio interviews etc. 5AA "sports" show used to have a regular weekly spot with 2 players but not sure if they will be this year.
Fridays they should set up a merchandise stand in rundle mall with supporter gear, posters and stickers and get a couple of players who aren't playing that weekend to come down and sign autographs for an hour or so, give away a couple of double passes a couple of signed balls to kids and things like that.
We've had crowds of 25,000 to a league game before, do those other 15,000 just need it to be right in front of their eyes to bring them back to hindmarsh?

Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
Generally I have this weird ability to keep rain away from Hindmarsh. If it rains when I'm there, it rains! Brisbane game is a prime example. But there were many days throughout 2010-11 where it'd piss down during the day, and I'd bring clear skies

I have a seat under the cover of the western grandstand but I'm going to sit in the rain in the eastern stand with my poncho drinking hot chocolate with my AU mug

It's a pity that Usucar is no longer here, otherwise they could put his face on it and call it the "Pancho Poncho".....SO glad I have mine Pity they didn't come with the kids memberships as well - thankfully I still have a spare one for my son but my neighbor's son doesn't have one which is frustrating.Poncho's ahoyRain predicted - 8500 if your lucky I think sadly

Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
40% chance of rain, albeit clearing and less than 1mm....if that turns people away then there is no hope left. 11k would be a good chance of happening, anything above ten is a win, anything above 12 is unlikely
