Wellington on a rainy Sunday afternoon would likely be our smallest crowd.

Melbourne Victory on a pleasantly warm Friday or Saturday night would be our largest.

Variables at Hindmarsh that definitely affect attendance: weather, timeslot, opponent.
Variables that can affect attendance: football style, form, club issues.
Strangely enough. A shame really as games against Wellington are usually high scoring and entertaining for the casual.

Basically what I have right now, I'm working with weather, timeslot, opponent and form, and possibly the table position the club has going into the match. Not every match report has what the weather was like on the day, so its a bit painstakingly slow to collect all the data; I'm also still figuring out how to input form, whether points from last 6 games or another points based system or categorical (Excellant, good, average, bad form etc).

A club crisis variable could work.
I think you are missing one key criterion:

"Level of pissantism"

Just recently added the day the match was on. I thought I'd share the averages for each.

The first is every game we've had at home.

The second is all A-League games at Hindmarsh in the past 4 seasons.

We used to own Friday matches, but since the SBS deal, that tv spot has been shared around the other A-League clubs.
Wednesday matches are mostly made up of ACL and to a lesser extent, FFA cup matches.

I'll post some figures relating to what teams we have faced on what days the most once I fix my laptop.

Yeah that season where the club got about 10 Friday night games was awesome. Interesting that Saturdays are significantly worse than Fridays or Sundays. I guess those games are fighting with local sport and people's social lives such as weddings and birthdays.

So here we have the number matches played against current A-League teams and the average attendance for said day.
I have decided to exclude the Grand Final.

A nice collection of stats, and certainly provides a basis for more sensible discussions.

Looks like we need to fight harder for Fridays.

I am also surprised at the low crowds against Wanderers as compared to the Jets. It looks like South Australians haven't bought into the Wanderers hype :)

If my calculations are correct this weekend is Isaias' 100th game for AU.

I'd say it's entirely debatable that AU never truly replaced Reid till Isaias came along. Caravella was good, but not quite the level Reid was and Isaias well and truly is.

I've updated this for the first time in a while.

A couple of notable stats.

Last weekend (if my calculations are correct) was AUFC's 400th competitive match.

Also Amor's record as a coach for AU is now worse than Coolen's when he was sacked.

There was a time where Cirio was number 1.

If my calculations are correct this weekend should be Isaias' 100th HAL appearance as well as Cirio and Elrich's 100th total appearance.

If it were goals per minutes played as opposed to goals per game sanchez would be the stand out leader

Its also interesting 3 of the top four fell out of favour with their managers and were released or sent to the bench if not both.
