Knee injury that forced his substitution last night will keep him out for at least the gamba game. Shame.
Who should replace him next game?
Usucar, McKain or Fyfe.
Usucar is the obvious direct change but wouldn't mind any of them, Fyfes first time volley strike from outside the box last night was tasty.

Thought Fyfe did well, but I'm an Usucar fan.

Re: Malik out for gamba game
Didn't it say in Val's article he'll be out of the round of 16 match too? Or is he getting confused?

Val is also trying to convince us that Rees is going to come out of retirement to sign for us instead of Boogs.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/soc ... 6346269369But Adelaide will travel to Japan without holding midfielder Osama Malik, who succumbed to a knee injury on Wednesday.
Adelaide officials also ruled Malik out of the round of 16 clash.
This ain't good!

I can live with the Gamba game, but I think we really need him for the round of 16, against whoever it may be. Hopefully he can pull off a miraculous recovery and get back in time... he's fast becoming my favourite at AU.

Re: Malik out for gamba game
Yep, my positivity towards going further has just declined A very real concern not having Malik on the park seeing as he's a huge reason for our success in the ACL.
We need a straight swap that can step up to his standard. They maybe have the Gamba game to get it together but I really want top spot.
I'm a big fan of Usucar, but he has his own style - I have little faith that he can distribute and attack, along with defending, as well as Malik does. Malik reads the play so well
My pick would be Fyfe. I think he did well off the bench, and played a big role in setting up attacks. It's either a straight swap with Fyfe, or move McKain up and put Fyfe CB for me.

Re: Malik out for gamba game
Agree with Fyfe in and I would start him as DM so that Boogs and McKain keep their understanding. I would drop Barbs and put on Pancho though. Barbs is not offering us anything at the moment.

Agree GA. I would also drop Mullen for Watson/Dilevski (whoever's fitter) - and bring back Serge! Although Djite's doing a decent job Serginho has the touch of class that we need.

Watson--McKain--Boogs--Cassio

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
