Is that what this bloke is getting at we asked the government for a new stadium back then? Please this was shelved well over 5 years ago.^^
And this is where it will get messy. The government thinks AUFC have no choice, but I think Griffin and co have a fair idea of what they're doing and are willing to play hardball. Quite possibly with FFA in their corner too.
Note also the lack of reference by the state government to the money they've thrown at Adelaide Oval for AFL and cricket, as has been mentioned here many, many times.
And just for old time's sake, remember this?

Actually that was not a government funded stadium, that was a private development but needed access to government controlled land at the Thebarton barracks site.Is that what this bloke is getting at we asked the government for a new stadium back then? It was the fact they didn't want to purchase Thebarton Barracks but have it gifted to them as a Government contribution I think. The site would have a fair amount of inherent value. Though I am also not sure if the Government can actually sell the land...

Offical AUFC statement from their email. This much publicised issue continues to be a major focus for the club and football across the State. Hindmarsh is both the home match venue for our club and the spiritual home of the code in this State and we are committed to being here.
Whilst participation rates for football are extremely high, the investment in the code pales in comparison to AFL, SANFL and SACA in this State. A thriving Adelaide United can only be good for Hindmarsh and we are committed to working with the Government to that end.
Participation rates to funding levels has always been terrible. Its nice to see AUFC actually pushing for the good of the game.
