Rini wants his cash

Postby Stuckey Thu Feb 23, 2012 7:48 pm

ADELAIDE United has been forced into a legal battle over paying out former coach Rini Coolen's $1 million-plus contract.

In a double financial hit, Adelaide's potentially hefty pay day for Coolen may come on top of the club losing more than $100,000 in upfront expenses for its first scheduled AFC Champions League clash against Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor in Tashkent on March 6.

Actually starting to wish Rini stayed TBH. Kossie has done us no favours. No 7-1 hidings though.

Kosmina has done his job. Could have done better mind you, but nothing amazingly dire. I enjoy watching the team again too.

Even if you discount on the pitch results this year. To be equal with Rini, Kosmina would still have to destroy a winning squad and replace it with overpaid lesser players, then fail to keep that squad intact, then fire all the competent backroom staff and then piss off all the fans too.

Farken hell.

In a year we have.....
Sold our most loved players
Have an ex coach chasing a big pay out.
Probably farked up our acl chances by fielding a suspended player.
2 captains
Second last.... Only because gold coast are playing their youth team.
Lost stubbins

Yet crowds have stayed relatively strong.... Imo the club owes the fans big time
Didnt expect this would happen a year ago

Adelaide is a football rock.
We love our club and we love our game.

The "Coolen misadventure" was a massive lesson for the club, the new owners and us.

I didnt think the club fired him, I thought they rotated him to youth development and if he chose to leave that then he has voided his contract?

I really miss dodd and Flores and I don't miss rini

that he does but it doesn't mean he will get it or is entitled to it.

Coolen was demoted not fired. He chose to leave. The fact that Greg Griffin is a lawyer gives me a lot of confidence in this situation. He would of looked for a loophole and from the outside looking in, it seems he found one.

Granted, it seemed like a very backhanded move from our behalf. But I just don't see how he deserves to get a MILLION. Did he not see how shit we were doing?

He was demoted to basically force him to resign and IMO he deserves to be paid out.

Well if the club didn't want to give him that much money they should have signed him up to a shorter contract.

There surely has to be measureable criteria in his deal. He couldn't expect the run of form to continue forever and he kept his job?
