Watson's Long Road

Postby spaceCowboy Tue Feb 21, 2012 11:00 am

In the unforgiving competitive world of football, talented players are often overlooked on a regular basis, but when a young Australian such as Adelaide United midfielder Cameron Watson - once a member of Portuguese champions FC Porto - goes unnoticed in his home country, it's astonishing.

Good story of never giving up really, but being at porto i dont understand how he never learnt how to put in a decent cross.
We are UNITED, after all....

:)
He's much better than most give him credit for. The stray crosses get noticed but what goes unnoticed is his great positioning, passing game (so long as the ball is on the ground), defensive workrate... classy player and I think he's got a big future - in this league at least. If we actually had another RB I wouldn't mind seeing what Watson could do in midfield.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Gotta confess, I knew sweet f-a of Watson's footballing past. Although he never 'made it' in Europe, his stints are nothing to sneeze at. Many players would wish for such experiences. I do like the lad, but still have my doubts about him and whether we'll extend his contract. But I hope he fires up soon and becomes a house hold name!

People forget he is playing out of position

Well he better get used to it because its unlikely he'll get a spot in our midfield.

If he could cross better he'd probably be one of our best players. Seriously, look at all other aspects of his game and he's of a quite high standard (particularly positioning etc as previously mentioned).

However, all that is forgotten when the ball flies into the crowd. His finished product just isn't good enough.

Even in midfield, his preferred role, he still can't cross which is too large a weakness to ignore.
It might be a long road but I think the journey should continue elsewhere for Watson.

He seems to have a decent motor I wonder if having him in the middle would work? Box to box midfielder?

He's too slow, doesn't anticipate the play, can't cross or pass. I'd rather see Dilevski (when back from injury) or Mullen in his position. He's a bench player at best. I just don't know how he has ended up being a first choice player.

what the f@#k have you been watching.Dilevski is not good enough for Sunday league let alone A-League . Cam Watson is a very talented footballer who just needs to improve his crosses, which im certain he is working on as we speak.Dilevski is a Donkey, one of the worst recruits we have had in a while. You are obviously watching a different game or you really dont understand the game. :bang:

Wow nice first post no hello?
I think if Dilevski can get fit he will show some of his worth.
It similar to Lev everyone was harping on about how crap he was while he was injured but now he has strung a few games together all those idiots have put a sock in it about him.

Watson is capable of walking onto the pitch. That makes him better than all rivals for his position.
