Re: Adelaide United vs Persipura Jayapura Match Day Jamboree
Just a PS to my previuos post.
Reckon we were sitting next to a couple of scouts from Bundygor, this geezer who did'nt speak english or pretended not to, had the note pad out and was writing down team set ups and plays and for both teams till we went 2 up and just concentrated on us.
Was taking photos of all corners and set plays before the ball was kicked.
So if the Bundygor are doing their homework, the report back would be that they've already got 6 points in the bag.
PS number2 5,000 crowd last night!!, without the east stand and pretty sparse in the north stand, pity Fox did'nt have a camera on the east side a chock a bloc grandstand would have looked impressive. Still makes me wonder how they do the crowd count though.
I get the impression the Hindmarsh crowd counter could count to 21 without dropping his trousers.

Re: Adelaide United vs Persipura Jayapura Match Day Jamboree
i think we were pretty poor last night. if it were brisbane or central coast playing last night i think it would have been 10-0 at least.
bruce killed it when he didn't pass the ball to serg to just tap it in and was wastefull again. watson is effing useless and i cannot believe he has held that position for so long! i would love to see melling and vido working together in the midfield. vido can sit back lazily while melling does the hard drunning. i hate saying all this but i just think if we go into the group stage the way we are currently playing, we are going to be humiliated.
if its true the fyfe has been released by his club. sign him now!
ohh what i would do to have dodd, flores and leckie back.

its being talked about on footballnews at the moment so thought i would bring it up here. cassio in his previous game in the acl was shown 2 yellow cards and sent off. did that make him ineligible to play last night as he hasn't served his one-match suspension?

Why couldn’t the players move off the ball until the last twenty minutes last night. Having gained access to the posh seats I was surprised how static the players were in the midfield. Perhaps they were told to conserve energy for Sunday or perhaps they didn’t have a clue what they were supposed to be doing once again. You could almost hear them thinking, ‘there’s no point me running aroud because that pass won’t be coming my way’
Another worrying thing is the service Serge is getting. He is without doubt one of the best finishers in the league but he’s surrounded by two of the most selfish players to put on a red s hirt. He too is a brilliant free kick taker. Give him a chance and the respect he deserves. I really hope he doesn’t become frustrated and look to ply his trade elsewhere.

Re: Adelaide United vs Persipura Jayapura Match Day Jamboree
the question is, do red card suspensions carry over for 1-2 seasons as we have not played ACL for a couple of seasons in regards to Cassio..
In any case, who needs a circus when you have the AFC and AU together..........

ADELAIDE United's stuttering Asian Champions League campaign may have hit yet another stumbling block after questions were raised over Cassio's eligibility to play last night.
The fullback took to the field against Indonesian side Persipura Jayapura in last night's sudden death play-off for a place in the group stage of the ACL after the Court for Arbitration in Sport ordered the game to take place.
But in Adelaide's last appearance in the ACL, in the 2010 knockout phase when they were beaten 3-2 by Jeonbuk Motors, Cassio was red carded after receiving two yellows.
A mandatory one match ban should have followed his dismissal under AFC regulations, although Article 38.2.c is vague about whether that is served in the ACL, or domestically if it came at the end of a club's ACL campaign as Cassio's did.
However Cassio also played in Adelaide's next competitive A-League match following the Jeonbuk clash, when he appeared against Newcastle Jets in the first round of the 2010/11 season.
By also playing for the Reds again last night, Cassio appears to have escaped any suspension for his dismissal - and as a result may not have been eligible to appear for Adelaide last night.
Since Cassio's sending off, the club has changed ownership and the coaching staff has been replaced, meaning the ban could possibly have been overlooked or not known about by the new administration.
But it could now cost the club its hard-earned place in the Champions League.

I wish people would take at least a little time to do a modicum of research before they post sensationalist articles. It really is poor journalism.
Fom the AFC Disciplinary Code, to which the AFC ACL Manual defers:
Section 4. Carrying over and cancelling cautions and match
suspensions
Article 36 Carrying over cautions
1. Cautions received during one competition are not
carried over to another competition.

blahblah...does this mean it shouldn't carry over to the a-league AND next acl campaign or just one of them?

not carried over at all. Hence if you received a red in the ACL this year in the final then you can play in the first round of the ACL the following year as each one is treated as a different competition.blahblah...does this mean it shouldn't carry over to the a-league AND next acl campaign or just one of them?
Each year they bring out a fresh set of rules and guidelines, the whole shibang.
