A final decision regarding the involvement of Persipura - which plays in a rebel league not recognised by the Asian Football Confederation - in the ACL is yet to be made, so United could still qualify even if it loses on Thursday.

We have to put this to bed on Thursday night.
Chances that are made must be converted.
Extra crossing, finishing and Penalty work over the next couple of days, please.

Lets suppose we win, but a key big money player seriously injures themselves during this game (touch wood)...then cas make their ruling and decide the game never needed to be played........can of worms?

I suppose the AFC wouldn't care, but what if we had spent big this transfer window and bought in a couple of expensive players for the purpose and promise of playing ACL football and then we lose the qualifier that we had been told we wouldn't have to play?

Obviously they wouldn't care but I bet the club and players involved would be fuming

The result of this game is surely moot. Persipura aren't even a member of the AFC, so how can they play in a competition run by the AFC?

Sanity will prevail.

disappointing... hopefully they actually get used (and have some kind of impact) in the final two games then!

:bang: this just gets more and more ridiculous
Sort of. We should have had an AFC member national on our books. If we had a defender from Jordan or some-such we wouldn't be in this position.

What I am unclear on is if the squad list for Thursday will be the same as the squad list for the group stage as they are two different parts of the competition.

It will also be interesting to see how Trani fares. A big opportunity for him and I wish him well.

Who the fuck will be our cb with Boogs?! Lev isn't in the ACL squad, Mullen and Golec are out. How far is McKain off? Can anyone else play there??

Ah just remembered - Malik will have to. Usucar to mid then? Going to be a bit of a reshuffle from our formations of late.

Seems fairly simple, Malik into CB where he can play and has played before, Usucar into DM.

Give TEEBOY a run :D if Van Dijk doesn't play, I assume he's an Aussie Citizen

Edit:

Haha beat me to it by 3 minutes ed dog

Im fairly sure lev could play.

The acl squad is for acl group stage, this is not the acl group stage.

Either way malik needs to start at cb as he is more mobile on his feet as im sure perispura would have skillful and fast strikers.

Comes down to lev or pancho as dm, and pancho is fit .... So imo lev will miss out either way as we still have cassio and vandijk

Lev was horrendous on Sunday bar his one potentially game-changing save in the penalty box. Looked chronically unfit and like he didn't care - probably because he didn't as he'd just been dropped for ACL. But damn.

We all know that this match is going to be a farce.
No matter what the result is, I feel AU will be the loser, victim and scapegoat for the machinations to come.

Just a couple of questions though:
We all know that the Indo's are going to play 9-0-1 defend like buggery and hope to score on the break, and make the game go to penalties if they can.

Now what if they thug it up?, does it matter if they get booked or sent off? as any penalty won't apply in their league. What about time wasting?

Is this a sactioned game? and who is the ref? AFC/FIFA recognised?
Is AU indemnified by AFC and FIFA for playing a non registered team? and will we ultimately suffer any penalty for doing so?

That said It will worth going just to say that you were there for the birth of a new era of football, this could be the Bosman of the 21st century, the go ahead for the total free agency of football, the rise of the super leagues and the death of traditional league football.
