FORMER Chelsea manager Avram Grant's new club, Partizan Belgrade, is aiming for a Reds showdown.

The pending clash will be the first time Adelaide United face off against European club opposition.

Adelaide chairman Greg Griffin revealed that Partizan's management team was in the process of organising friendly clashes with Adelaide United plus matches against A-League opposition in Sydney and Melbourne in June.

A friend of mine is the owner of I-League side Southern Samity. He's quite chummy with Greg and Bruno. Apparently they're throwing the idea of coming down here for a friendly about. Along with taking Van Dijk on loan - but I'm quite sure he's just winding me up about that

Haha, does it matter wether the team is famous for football or famous for recruiting older players who can't play in Europe anymore? As long as Adelaide gets good publicity locally and abroad then hopefully attract more exhibition matches - hopefully some to add intensity in our preseasons? Any extra chances to watch the reds play is a good thing for me.

What has that sister club relationship gotten us? We signed Diego and got Romario but since then what has been the point of the relationship. I thought it was supposed to give us access to their development squads and what not
