Luke Klimek

After an unsuccessful trial with Warta Poznan, Luke Klimek is coming back to Adelaide and apparently training with AUFC for two weeks in the hope he will sign on. I think Kossie is a fan of his.

This is from the ever reliable football news so don't shoot the messenger!

What position is he ?

Last season's Super League stats = 17 games 2 goals and 5 yellow cards.

Not that flash if he's a forward.

From what I have heard he is a box to box midfielder. So something we have a lot of. But if you read about him on Football news no one has a bad thing to say about him, now that truely is saying something!

He's a very athletic left winger, properly two footed as well. Had a great year in the super league with Croydon despite their troubles. He's got the skills to make a good contribution given some patience.

Anyone else think the acl will be a chance for the club to finally make a decent fist at recruiting some local lads? Klimek is a stand out from the super league, but theres others like Papachamborous, Lastella and Kounavelis who could all do a job. Thoughts?

I went to high school with Luke at Hallett Cove, he was in my home group for a number of years and in my lunch-time social circle.

Nice enough guy, was very quiet. We used to play football every recess and lunch time for years. He was always a good footballer, but there were players of equal or better ability. From what I've heard (and seen during the pre-season trials) he's come on a long way in ability. He always had a very, very tidy first touch and a cheeky eye for goal. But ability is very hard to judge in a school yard kick about and there's no doubt he's a far better player from what he used to display.

Have barely seen him since then so it'll be interesting to see how much he's actually come on.

I imagine we would pick up a few NYL players.
I would say Nick Munro, Jake Monaco, The Mavromatis brothers, Joe Costa, Evan Kostopoulos, Ian Kamau and Liam Wooding would all be in the running for the 30 man squad. But I would hope we look at senior players as well.
