Adelaide to pick up an extra home game against....

I just read on twg.com.au that the FFA have made some venue changes. one of them being round 6 i think against GCU.

Gold coast have chosen to play their home game at hindmarsh...

I had to read it twice, but it seems to be the case.

Why on earth would they give up a home game?

Surely they'd rather play in front of 266 people that are supporting them, instead of playing in front of 15,000 that are barracking against them?

Or is it just to make a $$$?

Friday nights is apparently their worst attendance rate. So to save money from opening a whole stadium and getting 2k viewers, they sell it to us at a discount ad save the opening costs and get a small fee. We get an extra home game with 10k viewers so it's win-win.

I'd be pissed if I was a GCU member who paid for all the games and now knows that they can't go to one of their games.

theyre offering compensation to all 5 of their members, free parking at the stadium was one of them, free ticket to the adelaide game and something else that i dont remember... if i remember correctly

Just saw that the other thing was free entry to the Roar Vs GCU game at Suncorp. That's not too bad I guess.

It isn't sustainable what they're doing. Can't see them surviving much longer if they can't get crowds to their games, and this certainly won't help that cause.

I am surprised that they didn't move the game to an adjacent regional area with a suitable stadium. Perhaps they didn't have much time to organise the change once a decision had been reached to abandon Skilled Stadium for the night.

Should be interesting to see if it is classified as a GCU home game still, or if it changes to our 14th home game.
