Adelaide United has released young defender Bradley Norton to allow him to return home to Melbourne.
Norton, who made two substitute appearances for Adelaide in the A-League, has left the club by mutual agreement, the Reds said in a media release.
The Melbourne-born 20-year-old sees 'the chance to return to his home town as a move that will provide him with more opportunities to further his football career'.

Re: AUFC release Norton
if i remember correctly, there was all this hype about us signing this kid. haven't heard much about him since his time here?
can almost guarantee that one of the melbourne teams will be signing him up.

Re: AUFC release Norton
Expect this to happen when having such a strong squad, only 3 bench spots excluding a keeper and only 27 games

Re: AUFC release Norton
can't wait until the bench limit is increased... like shin said, to be expected in this league for young players/those not looking like getting much game time.
was Norton the fella who was already training with one of the Melbourne clubs through the off season?

I thought we were allowed 4 subs on the bench excluding a keeper? So 5 total.

no we are allowed 4 subs including the keeper.
i think our club pushed for that to increase to 6 or 8?
but most clubs didn't want to hear about it because of increased costs etc...
i remember aufc saying they will push for it a lot harder next off season.

Imo its crap! Even just having 1 extra player on the bench would not cost much more money reallywhen you add it up compared with the potential gains. If i remember right, stuckey did a bit of a prive evaluation of 1 more player per away game and it only game to 40k extra for the season.
But there are clubs like sydney fc who signed nicky carle on around 700k then came out and said players are paid to much and its killing clubs, then 6 months later they chase kewell and sign emerton hmm........
Imo more players on the bench should be a priority over clubs trying to use the full quota of salary cap
