Great choice I reckon. Well done Rini

From the source

“He is a great professional, a natural leader, his position on the field as a central defender is an important one, and together with the mentality and experience he has, he ticks all of the boxes.”

Quite happy with this. I like the idea of a central defender captain who can really marshall the defence. Hope there isn't any bad feelings b/w Cassio and Hugene as they're very loyal servants of our club.

My sentiments echo the rest. A good move by the club who have had a good off-season in the recruitment department.

One cannot help but feel that abysmal wait is largely over as the build-up to the season gathers pace.

I dont really know enough aboutmckain to really have an oppinion about him as captain.

But if he has come into an already established squad and earnt the respect of the players and coach already then he is clearly a great leader.

Hopefully the club promotes him a little bit before the season starts as most of us really dont know enough about his as we might a cassio or galekovic.

Does anyome else feel the club seem to be running on a 3 year plan? Have made a few good long term signing in vidosic and mckain who will be around for 3 years im not sure if djite is on 2 or 3 year contract.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain
McCain reached Hoa Lo in as bad a physical condition as any prisoner during the war.[113] His captors refused to give him medical care unless he gave them military information; they beat and interrogated him, but McCain only offered his name, rank, serial number, and date of birth[114][115] (the only information he was required to provide under the Geneva Conventions and permitted to give under the U.S. Code of Conduct).[103] Soon thinking he was near death, McCain said he would give them more information if taken to the hospital,[114] hoping he could then put his interrogators off once he was treated.[116] A prison doctor came and said it was too late, as McCain was about to die anyway
It goes on.. big shoes to fill.
