Re: On the Sidelines with Rini Coolen
Rini mentions that the club is looking to sign a left-footed central defender. I have never really understood why the stopper should be left-footed. I would have thought that the defender's overall quality and defensive attributes would take preference. Anyway,if it must be a left-footed defender,I hope that the Reds sign Adrian Madaschi,a player the club has openly admitted was on its radar as a potential recruit.. A partnership between McKain and Madaschi would arguably be the best in the league and significantly add to the depth in the squad. Madaschi has played at a high level in both Scotland and Italy and has even played for the Socceroos. The only thing that might be a prohibitive factor is the money we have left in the salary cap after our strong recruitment drive. I suspect that there isn't enough left to lure a player of his ability and experience. Let's hope that I am wrong and that we can recruit him!

Madaschi has been training with Heart recently, so I think he may be signing with them.

I think Rini wants a left sided CB who can also play LB as we currently don't have a backup for Cassio in this position, should he (touch wood, he doesn't) get injured.Rini mentions that the club is looking to sign a left-footed central defender. I have never really understood why the stopper should be left-footed. I would have thought that the defender's overall quality and defensive attributes would take preference.
Madaschi would fit this role perfectly, if we can't fit him in the cap and have little room to move then Ivan Karlovic from MetroStars would be a good option.

Norton is Cássio's backup LB.

Usucar played LB well last season
God knows we have enough midfielders to cover him if he is forced into the position
