Why don't AUFC just follow the 3+1 rule so this doesn't keep happening?
Well they did have Shin in the squad last time around and his reward for exponential improvement in 2010 was to be 'allowed to leave' by Rini
Yeah the same with Owusu and Makala with Sydney. Why do these club that are running on such a short amount of money waste money on a player who can't play? Its not like these guys are on minimum wage? In Owusu's case he was one of our top earners.

Should have come in when the AFC changed the rule for ACL, simple.

Its all very good in theory, but how many quality asian players will play in the aleague when they can earn massive money in japan korea or china?

Older euro players or young south americans are better value imo

Asia's a pretty big place... the potential for unearthing talent in Asia is enormous, and given there are benefits for us recruiting Asians (the 3+1 rule) I'm not really sure why you'd think a player from Europe or South America would be a better option.

There's only so many players who can get onto a roster at a top flight club in Japan, Korea or China - which leaves several billion other people to choose from.

There are some good, quality national players in Jordan, Syria & Iraq who would fall over themselves for a contract in the A-League.

Apparently the Saudi Arabian national team only has one player who plays O/S because the money/fame/lifestyle is so good there. Not sure if it's the same or similar in the countries you mentioned. Why go to a country and get booed if you don't live up to the hype that overseas player usually brings when you can live like a king in your country?

I agree that there would be some gems, but it would be a real hit and miss.

Getting a decent korean , chinese or japanese player would be near impossible as we cannot offer them what they can make at home,

No doubt thailand indonesia india etc would have some gems, but no way could they play in a physical league.

As has been said, alot of the arabic speaking countries players have little reason to leave home.

Compared to say usucar from uruguay who was used to a physical game and i believe came quite cheap as the money is not so good over there.

Im all for taking a gamble on an asian player, we did it with shin but fans want it both ways... " take the risk but if it turns to shit we will hang u for it" mentality shits me

Just back on the topic of Lec, I think he's been solid the last few weeks. He set up boogs goal against persipura and scored himself in a similar set piece situation. I thought his height/form/distribution would be useful in Asia.

I like Usucar, he's a good physical tackler but hes not so good on the ball.

The Jordanians, Syrians and Iraqis are getting paid very, very little. The monied states are Qatar, UAE and Saudi where the entire national team is sourced domestically. It is a big reason as to why they seem to falter on the World stage.
