Re: Eugen Levchenko
I dunno, if he's an out-and-out defensive mid, expect to see Usucar playing more as a box-to-box midfielder, and Levchenko as a 'water-carrier'/destroyer. Quite a common position in the 4-3-3, where of the three CMs, one is overly attacking, one is overly defensive & one is half-and-half.Out of all the signings this is the only confusing one

I reckon he will do well.

Re: Eugen Levchenko
Its good to see that Rini was a big reason why he came here. Also the fact that we are still looking for a central defender will really sure up our defence and give us a very flexible team.
Now they just need to make the bench bigger, 3 subs is a joke, 5 plus a goal keeper would make a lot more sense.

Levchenko interviewed in todays paper

EVGENIY Levchenko adores the Aussie culture and SA's culinary delights but he hasn't come to terms with Australian football.
While Adelaide United keeper Eugene Galekovic embarrassed The Advertiser's AFL experts when he won SuperCoach, Levchenko said he watched the "funny" game on TV from his hotel before moving into his apartment last month.
He was even more baffled by the sport after trying his hand at marking and kicking the oval ball for the first time with Reds team-mates at Hindmarsh Stadium yesterday.
"I thought, how can you play with this ball?" Levchenko said.
"I would like to go and see the AFL (live) to see what the players can do.
"For me it was a really funny game but our football is predictable in the sense you shoot the ball and you know where it's going to go."
But after getting over the initial shock of the travel distance between Europe and Australia and the sense of isolation, Levchenko said he enjoyed what cosmopolitan Adelaide had to offer.
Levchenko said he frequented Adelaide's Central Market to buy fresh produce.
"You can find anything here," he said.
"I pay a lot of attention to what I eat. I don't eat meat. I can try it like kangaroo but it's not my daily diet."
Levchenko is looming to be an integral part of Adelaide's championship push after coach Rini Coolen arguably snared the best signing of the new A-League season.
The Ukrainian is now playing in a holding midfielder's role alongside Zenon Caravella.
Levchenko said he felt more comfortable in midfield after Coolen played the left-sided player in the stopper's role during the early trial matches against Super League opposition.
A settled Levchenko said playing fellow A-Leaguers Gold Coast at Hindmarsh on Friday would be a gauge for the Reds in the build-up to the season opener against Perth Glory next month.
"Team is really important and we have a couple of really good players but we have to be as one on the field," Levchenko said.
Meanwhile Reds chairman Greg Griffin yesterday confirmed Socceroo Harry Kewell would be playing his first match in a Melbourne Victory shirt in a friendly match at Hindmarsh Stadium on September 23.
Kewell is also expected to face Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium on October 14 in round two of the A-League season.
