Super League trialists with AU

Postby Stuckey Wed Jun 15, 2011 11:02 am

JOHN Kosmina - the man who once culled Mimi Saric from the Reds - is now helping him get back in.

Kosmina cut Saric from Adelaide United's inaugural A-League squad in 2005.

But under Kosmina, Raiders' Super League forward and captain Saric has rediscovered the form which made him a 20-year-old revelation when Adelaide United MK I was fashioned for one NSL season in 2003.

Croydon midfielder Luke Klimek has also accepted the invitation to join Reds training alongside Saric next week.

However, the Reds were waiting for an official reply from Adelaide City after asking for permission to see how Ricardo da Silva and Nick Orr perform in sessions.
I hope they sign as least one of these guys so it doesn't look like a token effort. I know Ricardo da Silva was going to sign with AU a few years back but then missed out due to visa spots, but now that he's an Aussie he should be a chance.

Good step to filling out the squad. Rini has been proetty methodical in his approach so far, so I think that looking at players in a training environment wouldn't be a token approach, unlikely they get a look in if they couldn't play a role in the squad. We still have plenty of squad spots to fill after all.

Haven't seen Saric or City play for a while so can't comment on them, but Klimek has been pretty impressive on the wing in the times I have seen Croydon over the past couple of seasons.

Based on the talk about Matricciani and the African lad from the Western Strikers, there could be a few others trialling as well.

Will be great to bridge the gap between super league and au, lets local boys know if they perform then there is a chance the right people are watching.

Question in , can these guys cut it in the aleague? With only 3 players plus a keeper allowed on the bench when will they get their chance?

At Hindmarsh RedRis, just sneak in with a suit on. The gates are always open.

There were no closed games last season.
Now i know that it costs money to have games there. But was there any reason it couldn't be played at Con Makris Reserve?

There was a single closed match during our ACL prep against the Mariners.

The Galaxy's pitch wasn't up to standard apparently.
