Adelaide United Youth Team
I just heard an interesting piece of info. The Adelaide United youth team of last season will be going into the premier league next season and the current SASI team will replace them in the youth league. From the sounds of it AU then will have double the players and also double the chance in the FFA cup. Makes sense if there is an ACL spot up for grabs!

Re: Adelaide United Youth Team
I hope this comes to fruition, looking forward to any replys on footballnews as to why the other clubs are against this. AUFC competing in other level comps is an important part of the franchis' evolution into a club.

This move sounds good to me. Would definitely drag me out to local league games.
BTW, is the rumour for Premier League or Super League?

Looks like the SASI football programme is being scrapped as of next year. --Source--
Where does that leave the SASI boys? Will they amalgamate with AUFC, and form our academy's U17 squad?

Sounds pretty good. The more youth players the better.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/swe ... 6073958403REVOLUTIONARY changes are standing by to sweep through soccer across the nation.
Football Federation Australia is targeting the introduction of state-based second-tier competitions laden with A-League clubs' reserves sides.
Domestic federation-registered clubs will be asked to apply for accreditation to the revamped leagues with stringent criteria, including administration, facilities, location and junior programs set to determine if organisations will be accepted into the structure.
Interesting. I can't see it being allowed as a "second chance" for AU in the FFA cup but it definately is a great move as long as we're not pissing the FFSA club off too much.

Re: Adelaide United Youth Team
I dont think there was ever a thought of double dipping in the ffa cup.
Its a great plan and even better that the clubs have a choice to do this or not, so our youth can get a good run in the off season , even our squadies that dont see much match time in the a-league.
I assume this will mean we actually own our youth league players now and not borrow them from the local clubs.
I assume this may be the tip of the iceberg, may see adelaide united representing in underage leagues aswell in the future which is a good way of giving the adelaide unitied axademy kids some game time.
I wonder how the bigger local clubs will feel knowing they are not the big fish in the pond that all promising young kids inecitably goto? Then again it ma be more opportunity for make a profit from them by selling them into the adelaude united system.
Must say the future looks bright, not just for AU but also the chances of the good old days where sa is strongly represented in the socceroos

Re: Adelaide United Youth Team
Would welcome anything initiative that would see Adelaide united playing more games, albeit there youth team.
I think they should be treated just like any other club in terms of player trading to keep the league even. Payment of players needs to be reasonable fair as well, maybe salary capping this, probably a lost less then the A-League of course.
There also be rules allowing overage players to play too, maybe something like a 6/5 rules meaning that 6 of the 11 players must be under the age of 23. Or something similar.
Will be good to see some actual plans and more ideas that the FFA have about this.

I think it just going to be a youth league team so they won't be paid much if anything at all!Would welcome anything initiative that would see Adelaide united playing more games, albeit there youth team.

Re: Adelaide United Youth Team
Have I got this right?
They are asking other clubs to join a new "state based league" so that A-league youth clubs have somewhere to play after the ridiculously short A-league season is finished?
And the FFA proposes to do this in every state.
And then they wish to make a national 2nd division out of this new structure?
Hell, the state federations are not going to like this.
Sounds like a long term Putsch.

Re: Adelaide United Youth Team
I think the youth teams are just going to join the current state or region's league. I don't think the leagues are going to change (or if they do it wouldn't be because a youth team joined)Have I got this right?

In short i think AU youth will be entered into either the Super league or Preimer league along with an U/19 team i've heard.
I hope their results aren't all over the place.
I found watching few youth league matches teams would be flying 3-0 up, then make 3 changes around 65 mins and all of a sudden because that team is trying something new its 3-3. I don't think the Super league is somewhere to be trying new things we don't want the cheapen the highest standard in the state.
