First pre-season session back today. Good to see Dilevski and Caravella in red. Key points:

- Caravella and Slory did light running and didn't participate in the group drills.
- Luciano Trani and Michael Valkanis were the assistant coaches on the pitch with Rini.
- Rini wants 3-4 more players; at least one more defender and midfielder.
- Will do 6 weeks of training, 2 weeks off, 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off, then the lead into the season.
- For the first section of training, there won't be any set gameplay scenarios to practice as it's all about getting the players used to training again and getting the fitness back up.
- Rini will tinker with formations later on.
- Captain has not been decided and won't be decided on until later.
- A few younger players joined the training squad today - not sure if they are NYL members or not.
- Dilevski says that he has "matured" as a footballer since his move away from the A-League, and subsequent return. Also says he's been keeping tabs on the league for the last three years and is impressed at the improvement he has seen. Still has aims to play overseas and with the national team, but feels its the right time to come back to play in Australia.
- Training kit is still the old Reebok one, so no news on the Errea ones yet.

Just looking at the squad today I would be surprised if it doesn't turn out to be Flores. He's such a team man and always lead by example. He's a class act all the way!

ADELAIDE United has returned to training, sporting recruits Zenon Caravella and Spase Dilevski, ahead of a marathon pre-season.

The 2011-12 A-League is not expected to start until early October leaving the Reds a 20-week build-up split into one eight-week and two six-week segments.

Coach Rini Coolen is targeting an improved culture from the outset.

Does this have anything to do with him now having mostly the players he wants at AU now?

"We have lost a couple of players in defence like Iain Ffye, Robbie Cornthwaite. but hopefully we can bring in a couple of players. We at least need a central defender and maybe another attacking player."

Adelaide United new boys Zenon Caravella and Spase Dilevski have joined up with their teammates at training as the Reds' pre-season got underway.
Caravella, signed after two seasons with Gold Coast United, and former Universitatea Craiova player Dilevski will add much-needed quality to the Adelaide midfield next season following the departures of Paul Reid, Adam Hughes and Travis Dodd.
