Adelaide United Membership Committee
I received an email from the club saying that the club is currently working on a shortlist of the applicants and will start to hold informal chats with those people after the 25th of March.
Just thought i'd keep everyone up to date.

I applied as well, as did Jessesdad (Stephen) from 442 and RedsUnited. Not sure who else but there was a fair few at the initial meeting from the sounds of it (I couldn't get there sadly )

Re: Adelaide United Membership Committee
I initially applied, but had to pull out due to personal circumstances. I still get the updates through email though.
Re: Adelaide United Membership Committee
Have the club even actually mentioned what the Membership Committee is all about?
What exactly is this committee going to implement or organise?
I still can't recall seeing anything.

Re: Adelaide United Membership Committee
Yeah, and there isn't all that much information on what the actual "Committee" will be doing.Thats what the info night was about. I posted all that info already
This is your post below. The most I can get from it is as follows, in bold;
Hey sorry this is the first chance i had.
So about 20-30 people showed up in the Carlsberg bar at Hindy.
Glenn Elliot was the speaker and did almost all the talking which was great to hear the club's and his own opinions for many things effecting the club and their plans for this group.
Out of all the people that attended 3-4 people will be selected to run the group but everyone who has shown interest can contribute.
The main points Glenn discussed were.
The establishment of a member 'bill of rights' sort of thing explaining what it means to be a member and what being a member means to the club.
Giving members more for their money one example is the stratco card.
Making the club more open to the fans as far as info goes, Glenn wants all AUFC employees to let fans know whats happening around the club.
Adelaide Oval will purely be a once a season thing probably just MV matches.
Glenn condemed the reports about Travis and said the club is still in discussions with him.
Build Adelaide more as SA's team Glenn had the slogan 'my state, my team'
A club for fans to go back to after games and watch away games and even though the club aren't a fan of them, pokies are probably going to be part of that, this is really high on the agenda.
Embracing the fans of AFL and trying to compete against them would be 'egotistical' and plan to work together with other codes and sports.
Working with all the federation clubs ensuring they are more fairly compensated for the players they lose to AU.
AU will be holding a meeting with representatives of all clubs next Monday to discuss this and AU have two offers that they will put forward to the clubs. The public will hear all about it on Tuesday.
The AU website will get a complete revamp with much more information including AU community information.
The relationship of North Adelaide and AU is purely a resourse sharing one at this stage but a cross code relationship is on the cards (to the displeasure of Andrew Demetriou)
The sponsorship of Coopers is a obvious success.
Many other sponsors of North Adelaide are planning on sponsoring AU.
Giving away free tickets to juniors has been extremely successful with 76% of tickets given away being used.
Glenn also mentioned that we need to be less touchy about AFL people calling it Soccer. Which i can agree with, we're not going to win friends by wacking them over the head for calling it soccer.
AU was no plans to sell any player just to make a profit. If a player (like Iain Fyfe) wants to leave, AU will make sure its a win win scenario and AU will make funds to replace that player accessable to Rini.
The board has no contact with the players. The football dept (Rini and Michael Petrillo) run the club on the field. The board makes sure we can afford to operate.
If i can remember anymore points i'll post them.
IMO
I really enjoyed what Glenn had to say as a 'soccer convert' he is probably more perfect to sell AU to the AFL masses then anyone. He and Rob Gerard are living proof that you just need to expose these people to the power of football and the unique atmosphere football creates, (Glenn said he'd never experienced anything like AU v MV the other week) people will be more then likely to start following AU or the game in general.
This meeting filled me with a quiet confidence that the future, long term is very bright for AU.

Re: Adelaide United Membership Committee
I think it's basically a kind of review panel, for the club to ask for supporters' experiences, what they liked/disliked about membership and what can be done to improve the membership experience next season (i.e. added incentives).

I applied.
Interesting times ahead certainly though. From what I can understand, its going to be a very formal process.

Re: Adelaide United Membership Committee
Can we have a remote membership?
Some of us are unable to attend any matches, home or away, and therefore matchday benefits do not help. I would like to qualify that by saying if I am in town for a home game I will be there, no problems shelling for that just can't plan for it atm.
I am waiting for 2011/12 membership to go on sale so hurry up .
