Re: Members Day
You're not really from Adelaide are you?Actually 5pm is a great time for families, at least those with a parent at home. You go and pick the kids up from school and head to Hindmarsh for the members day. 9-5 working parent then meets you at Hindmarsh at about 5:30-45 and you have a picnic dinner and have a chat with the players etc.
But that is looking at this in a positive as opposed to negetive light.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True Story.

Noonu Atoll is supposed to have some pretty good fishing. I say we reverse the order and all go to the Maldives for the bbq sizzle (no pork sausages though).

Re: Members Day
This is way too reasoned.......or so I've been told about my posts.Sorry, but I really disagree here.God sake everytime AU announce anything someone has a whinge about when its on. Friday night match people whinge they are busy, Sunday arvo games people whinge they have work the next day, midweek games whingers still. What would you like AU to ring every support and ask them when they're free?
I'm sorry i understand people work and i do agree 17:00 isn't a great time to start but AU obviously can cater for everyone sometimes you have to miss out. Its a members day not a Grand Final.
A weekend is an obvious choice as this is when families are most likely to be available. Families are what the club should be aiming at when they host a Members Day, so their kids can meet their heroes. If you want to improve your support and reach out to more people, your members, the heart of your club, it's vital really.
If you're a Mum or Dad and have kids in after school child care and you work on the opposite side of town to where you live, which is generally the way it is, you'd be rushing around like an idiot to get to Hindmarsh in time. Luckily I do not fall into any of these categories.
I agree that this is something that should have happened perhaps towards the end of the season, so people had a chance to have merchandise signed and a quick shake of the hand with the players and those that may be departing, ala Leckie.
It's all about promotion and picking a day in which most people will be available and they've picked a late night shopping day which is not the best idea in my eyes.
Shane you will have to join the analytical, reasoned, thinking minds if you keep posting this sort of stuff mate!

We have been a Season Membership holder since the club was first formed in the NSL days, now it makes me question whether I want to be involved next season.

Go on admit it you just don't like a footballing team that represents the city you live in.
.........Or do you just not really like football - full stop!?

Re: Members Day
Wasn't too bad, few hundred people there I suppose.
Got my United shirt signed by the team, going to get it framed and hang it in my lounge room.

Re: Members Day
Yeah I got there after work. Decent turnout considering the night and time, but could have seen more come through if it was on a weekend.
If I'm not mistaken, Flores was in playing the small-sided football that whole time. Such a classy guy with the kids and the fans wanting autographs and pics. What a champ!
Was good to see Travis at the event too. Gotta respect him for that, and must say I will miss the guy. But hey, that's football.
