Ole! Well done Flores - well deserved in a strong field it has to be said.

Now I'm sure Liverscum fans are embarrassed that their hero Stevie Me is left for dead by this maestro. Are they? :D

Flores received 618 votes from his playing peers, well ahead of Brisbane Roar’s duo of Thomas Broich (495 votes) and Matt McKay (432).

The top 10 in the voting was dominated by the grand final favourite Roar and Adelaide United, which finished third on the ladder.

Aside from the winner Flores, the Reds had four more players in the top 10. Matthew Leckie, who is off to German club Borussia Moenchengladbach, was fourth, Dutch striker Sergio van Dijk sixth, Brazilian wing-back Cassio eighth and Socceroo goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic ninth.

Great work by Flores. I would have picked Van Dijk, but they both had excellent seasons.

The fact that we had Leckie as 4th on the JW Medal list says how much respect he has from his peers. And it's no surprise Cassio, van Dijk and Galekovic are ranked highly either.

Good showing by the Reds this year. Let's make it a better season next year. :)

He was talking to The World Game shortly after receiving the medal and said that Australia has made him a complete player, and would promote other foreigners to move to Australia in order to develop to their highest level.

I don't know if it was shown on the TV program, but it can be heard on the podcast.

big congrats to matt ryan to, from what i have seen of him he's gonna be a gun keeper. With him, Birra and Langerak coming through we have some huge depth in keepers at national level for the next 10-20 years already.
