Coach Cooley explains FC Twente blueprint Down Under
Coolen interview with Dutch paper 'De Twentsche Courant Tubantia'
ADELAIDE - Rini Coolen, the 44-year-old former coach of FC Twente state since July last year at the helm of Adelaide United in Australia. He has been with the Reds in pursuit of the most prestigious award of Australian football: winning the Grand Final, or 'Best of the six top teams. "
The Oldenzaler born coach is having the very time of his life, signed last week for four years and sees the football madness just grow. Slowly but surely. "The stadium Sat often largely filled this year. The fans - mostly families - are completely decked out to visit, scarves and hats so that one does not need ... And among young people nowadays everyone is playing football. Our football, "smiles Cooley.
Thus referring to Australian Football, which is by far the biggest sport Down Under and almost all the sports pages are taking.
Cooley has a blueprint of the Adelaide FC Twente-down organization. ,, I find it much common ground with our team. Not only the red color of the shirt ... No, it's the atmosphere, the structured organization and the starting point for talented youth a chance. Twente example works well with surrounding amateur clubs, making it an optimal breeding ground for talent and then the best players together. That should also happen. And before me are all possibilities. "

Rini Cooley? Awesome translator.
I think all managers should/do have some kind of plan for the club they're at, one to fit the length of their contract, in order to find some kind of success and have some sort of target of goals to achieve in their tenure. If not, a manager won't really be able to find much success.
Then it comes down to whether the board/management are willing to allow the manager enough control to make the plan a reality.

Well, really, it's more about Coolen than anything else. He's quite well known in Dutch football, so it's not really a surprise to see an article like this.Is good to be getting some press overseas, yet we are not in in ACl this year.

who cares if we are mentioned in an overseas newspaper? It means nothing, doesn’t get us any more money or help the club at all.
Re: Coach Cooley explains FC Twente blueprint Down Under
exposure is everything, exposure opens our doors to the world. imo that is one great thing we got out of the romario fiasco, was exposure in Brazil suddenly we had brazilian players interested(and imo aided some of our following signings of that time). Only the other day in the paper flores discussed how the talks about his rejection to an Argentinian club a few weeks ago took adelaide united to the eyes and ears of argentina. Any exposure can draw players, staff, or sponsors and hence more money or possible success to the club. all exposure is good exposurewho cares if we are mentioned in an overseas newspaper? It means nothing, doesn’t get us any more money or help the club at all.

You have come up with some pretty interesting thoughts on certain subjects so far,who cares if we are mentioned in an overseas newspaper? It means nothing, doesn’t get us any more money or help the club at all.
Do you try to base them on fact or fairy land?
It is a fact the more positive exposure the club gets overseas the better it is for us.
Just look at brisbane, they get some good press about their youth and all of a sudden Utrecht want to buy a portion of the club.
When we try to sign overseas talent these players will ask around about the club, they will look on the internet at youtube videos and newspaper articles etc.

Exactly , totally agree with schultzy and shin.
Everyone knows reputation is everything in football.
With a good reputation we enter the circle of football - O/S clubs come knocking, they find quality players, they buy, with that money we buy more potential quality, we grow that quality, we sell that quality and thus the circle of football goes round and round.
Sure we may encounter some hiccups on the way but at least O/S clubs know that they can find Q/players here, players that leave our league spread our name and then in future O/S players will know what to expect when they have a possibility of signing for one of our clubs.
So 2nd james, I care that we get mentioned because it grows our reputation and that = money. Unless you don't want that then yea who cares.

Re: Coach Cooley explains FC Twente blueprint Down Under
I'd actually say we are the best known club outside of Australia. Was in Japan last year and talked to some local football fans in Hiroshima about Adelaide United. Some recalled fondly our matches against Kashima in 2008 and of course bowing out to Gamba Osaka at the end. They were pumped that their own team could play us on the continental stage.
I just hope our name gets out there in Europe too. Seems Rini is going to be a big help in this regard.

Don't forget the club world cup. Even though we got eliminated early, people in europe would know who we are.I'd actually say we are the best known club outside of Australia. For interest sake can anyone name the kiwi club at the World Cup? Or the south American clubs the last 2 years? Or Japanese clubs? Without cheating. Delusions of grandeur by some of our supporters unfortunately, we are not even the best known club in Australia.

What you are referring to is links with clubs/players, this is different to small newspaper exposure which is what this was.exposure is everything, exposure opens our doors to the world. imo that is one great thing we got out of the romario fiasco, was exposure in Brazil suddenly we had brazilian players interested(and imo aided some of our following signings of that time).
