ADELAIDE United midfield Paul Reid has walked out on the club on the eve of the elimination final against Wellington Phoenix at Hindmarsh Stadium.

The Reds coach Rini Coolen labelled Reid as unprofessional after the midfielder requested an AFC Champions League clearance to Sydney Football Club.

Coolen said the timing of Reid's request did not suit Adelaide's finals campaign.

He added Reid then asked the Dutchman not to consider him for the sudden-death clash against Wellington.

However, if *any* player does this to our club at anytime, they were not worthy of continuing to play for our club.

We, as a club, should be striving to instill passion and respect from our players. Respect and pride should be the priority by the players whom join our club and represent our club with the shirt they wear on their back and the logo on their chest.

Yeah, that's certainly not without precedent. Even if the club were being difficult though it's a shit move by Reid to throw his toys out of the pram the day before a massive knock-out game. Keep it behind the scenes until the season ends FFS, if not for the club, for the sake of your teammates and the thousands of loyal fans that indirectly pay your wages.
