JAPAN'S Urawa Reds appears intent on bidding for gifted Adelaide United playmaker Marcos Flores in FIFA's January transfer window.

Reds coach Rini Coolen, however, said he was not fazed by the move.

And he indicated he is aiming to lure three recruits to bolster his squad.

Coolen, who has had to deal with selling good players to cashed up clubs in Europe, said that was all part of the business of football.

After last week extending Cassio's contract until 2013, Coolen now faces the prospect of searching for a new playmaker.

"We're definitely not (nervous). We already knew we take that kind of risk (players on the move) but more of the players prefer to stay here," Coolen said.

"I think we have to take decisions when we're 100 per cent sure because the new owners came in a couple of weeks ago. New decisions are there so I told the players and one of them we talked about was Cassio."

I could understand if he moves on to greener pastures (Japan/Europe) after the season ends.
Unless the club has an equivalent replacement lined up, I think it would be real bad idea for the club to let him go in January.

Good call. Very bad mistake to let him go this January. Personally I think he would want to stay at least till the years out. hes on a 2 year deal so we can still get $$$ for him by end of year. But really do not want to lose him. He is the smartest player in the league!

The story also mentions that Rini is already looking at new overseas players. I really hope we keep Marcos till at least the end of the season.

Well what we can offer is lifestyle. The beach cricket will be in full swing soon. I also think his passion for our club will see him finish out this season.

Instead of looking to cash in on him the club should be looking to offer him a 3 year marquee deal.

If we're going to sell him it should be for at least $3 million and not a cent less.

This quote from Flores gives me some hope that he intends to at least see out this season.

I belive flores would rather stay the season, however he may be given a bit of a choice if our owners get a chance to i think.

If our owners let flores go in january, as far as im converned there is a massive black mark to their name.

I understand this club needs to make money, and the more players like burns, djite, leckie, flores that we send off into bigger league the better it makes us look to future stars and the clubs back pocket, however selling probably the best player in the league half way through the season sends a terrible message to the fans who have stuck by this club through everything!

He will be gone in 2 years. Wont leave in January, but he has ambitions just like everyone else. No South American child has dreams of playing 10 years in Australia.

He's a lot more giften than Cassio and the best we can do is to get him to sign a contract extension and keep him here for 2 years but still able to make some coin on selling him (which we really should be entitled to as we are the team that launched his name).

pretty excited to see what we may have lined up for January ourselves. from Rini's reaction, seems like we're in talks with someone who is of top quality. though in the media, a manager can't show weakness or worry all that much.

i'd be devastated if Marcos goes, but have always assumed his stay would be temporary. just not this short altho, from the little i kno of the man, i don't think he'd be leaving.
