How many assists would Mauk have for AU now?
He gets none from today.
The first goal he passed to Cirio who would get the assist for his pass to Kamau.
The second goal he passed to Kamau whose shot was saved and Djite scored the rebound so I think Kamau gets an assist.

Still he played a massive role in both of the goals.

I noticed euge, didn't look too mobile toward the end of the game. Might be his knee again.
Heavy strapping on that left knee and looked none too mobile.

Still a solid shift but a few wayward balls, particularly one pass directly to a Brisbane forward who was too rubbish to do anything with it.

Just watching those second two goals. Man that was terrible defending by Brisbane - absolute gimmes.

First goal was unadulterated class.

If Eugene is hampered then now is the time to miss a match or two, not in the finals.

It was pleasing to see how we performed with the likes of Goody, Isais & La Rocca all out of the mix. Depth is important and it appears we have it.

Credit must go to Amor for creating a very flexible midfield.

Acquiring Mauk has proved to be a masterstroke. What Jeggo contributed to our team was difficult to replace, and still hasn't.

But Amor and all coaches have found a way to push that issue aside and are playing to our strengths. Mauk was instrumental in our away win over Victory, and I'm not referring to the assist either. Against Brisbane, he was able to find ample space in midfield after we'd won the ball back. He happily played narrow as part of an interchangeable midfield triangle of he, Chelo and Mells. It worked well.

----

Several weeks ago, maybe over a month, I was nervous about our run of three 'bogey fixtures': Central Coast away, Victory away, Brisbane at home. I feared but refused to predict a bit of a form drop. The opposite happened. I did however think, and will now stick to it, that if we were able to overcome the Brisbane hoodoo, we'd go on to win the league. Champion teams become so because they overcome mental hurdles. Ours existed for years, for the better part of a decade. Now it's no more and the world is our oyster.

Hope Galekovic's knee is okay. Looked pretty slow in some of those frames.

Complete performance from the lads bar the first 10 minutes where it felt like Brisbane might jag one.

Mauk was huge, great pick up.

Can we keep going and win something?

I WANT TO BELIEVE

Victory away did that for me.

that was the major hurdle. and its gone, anything is possible now.

Look at Brisbane, Victory, etc. All teams that have gone on to finish strong have succeeded through tough schedules and brushed aside difficult fixtures.

Now you're gonna believe us...
