Apparently on the podcast golden goal Estrada signed with united and will join the team for training in may!!!!!??
Well, that's reliable.

As of yet, there hasn't been a single word on him being released from Zaragoza. All the talk is still about his Alajuelense training fee.
Apparently the fee is broken down along the lines of 10,000 euro for each year of training at the club between the ages of 12 and 15, and another 90,000 euro for each year between 16 and 21.

I suppose Zaragoza should count themselves lucky that Alajuelense isn't charging from when they first signed him as an 8-year-old.

In all honesty, I don't think AUFC will be willing to fork out that money for any player, no matter the potential. The loss (along with contract fees, etc.) wouldn't be recouped with a future transfer in the time he'd be at the club. That's silly money for Adelaide to spend on one player in the current state of Australian football.

100% correct. If he comes with costs attached there is no way we should be looking at him. AUFC needs to be running in the black, not the red.

i have no problem with the club paying for a young player in the hope that they will get there money back plus some in a few years time selling him to a higher league.

Are we likely to do that? We would need to be able to sell him on for $1million plus. What if he comes over here for 2 seasons and then moves on a free?

Would be better to negotiate with his old club to waive the training fee in exchange for a percentage of his on sell fee.

There's also other things like wages, possible bonuses and the etc. that need to be taken into account.

If we're making Marcos into a marquee, there's very little chance we're going to be seriously looking at Estrada (especially considering the kind of contract he'd be expecting to come here).
