The pessimist in me has reminded me that we historically struggle to win when it counts. This coming weekend is a super important one, a six-point game almost.

What needs to happen this round:
Newcastle v Brisbane: result will have no effect.
CCM v AU: WIN! A win will put us on 32 points, and (at least temporarily) just a point behind Perth in top spot.
Victory v City: City win.
Perth v Sydney: Sydney to win, although a draw is better in the longer term.
Western Sydney v Wellington: We need WSW to get their first win, although I'd take a draw just to keep WSW as the competition's laughing stock.
For the sake of ease, let's go with...
NEW 1-2 BRIS
CCM 0-1 ADU
MVC 0-1 MBC
PER 0-1 SYD
WSW 1-1 WEL
If all these results occur, the ladder would look like this:

It sure adds an extra element to watching other games when it effects AU so much.

everything went our way... except for our own result.
We're never going to win the league when we cough up 3 points like that. not good enough... we need to win this weekend, non negotiable.

Re: How United will win the league.
Results we need from the remaining four games:
Wellington vs Melbourne City: City win
Sydney vs Melbourne Victory: DRAW
Newcastle vs WSW: does not affect us
AU v Perth: AU WIN (of course).
These results would put us on 32 points level with MV, potentially ahead on goal difference, and one point off Perth in top spot.

If MV draw they go top on 33.

yep...
The best thing for us is a win and a MV loss.
Then we need to step up and beat the victory at home in a couple of weeks time.

Re: How United will win the league.
We just need to keep winning and not focus on our position. If we keep getting the three points, we are going to continue to climb regardless of what the other teams do.
Problem is we keep stumbling when we need to win. Has a similar feeling to last year right now. Got as high as second but just couldn't hold on and what did we finish, 6th?
