So looking at the ladder. This round can really set AU up. If MV narrowly beat Perth and Brisbane beat Nix AU will be third then if all goes to plan AU just need to beat Perth and MV at home. So the ball is still in their court IMO.

Better still, Perth and the Failure play out a dull nil-all draw, which means they only take one point each and we stay ahead of the Failure on goal difference; we now have the best GD in the league and the most goals scored of any team - so much for our supposed problems in front of goal! (Plus none of our goals for have come from enemy own goals, whereas the Failure have had 3 x own goals gifted to them). So looking at the ladder. This round can really set AU up. Hoping for a nil all draw also means that we don't have to wish for a Failure win, which is always a good thing.

Yeah true I just like being only three points behind Perth though.Better still, Perth and the Failure play out a dull nil-all draw, which means they only take one point each and we stay ahead of the Failure on goal difference; we now have the best GD in the league and the most goals scored of any team - so much for our supposed problems in front of goal! Personally I hope for draws in every game that we're not in. Teams with no chance of finals are permitted to beat Victory, Wellington, Perth and Sydney

to be honest I dislike failure so much that I want to see Perth smash them. I am still confident we can reel them in if they win tonight

Re: How United will win the league.
Perth 3-3 Melbourne! MV went 3-1 up in the second half but Perth pulled two goals back. PERFect.
Final two games for this round:
Sunday, 1 Feb: Melbourne City vs. WSW (result will not affect us. City are a dark horse for the finals I think - although their loss to CCM may suggest otherwise).
Monday, 2 Feb: Brisbane vs. Wellington: refer to the ladder below. We'd rather a Brisbane win in the longer term. A draw can suffice though, and also keep Brisbane at bay for later.
If Wellington LOSE at Brisbane we will enter Round 16 in second place - equal on points with Victory and just four points behind Perth.
If Wellington DRAW or WIN at Brisbane we will enter Round 16 in THIRD place - equal on points with Victory and just four points behind Perth.

Next up:
CCM v AU
AU v Perf.
If we win these two and Victory lose to City in the Derby, we can clinch top spot.
To be prepared for the worst case scenario, it'll be useful for Wellington to drop points. They're the most ominous imo.

Agree. Wellington is not as talented as Perth or the Failure (or us, for that matter), but they have the better coach. (How MustKill ever gained a senior coach's job is beyond me; he seems barely literate). Wellington is more of a threat to us than either of the other two.Next up:

My two bob's worth for the final four is - the mighty AU, Wellington, Perth and then the Failure. I have us passing Perth in either Rd 22 or 23, but I would love to see us doing it sooner. The Failure has a curious inability to win matches in which they should be favourites, such as the Victorian derby (or playing the Sopwith Camels!), so I guess it is possible that we can become #1 before Rd 22.
Regardless, it's all positive for us!

Re: How United will win the league.
When do Newcastle travel to Melbourne next? For a rubbish football team, they've occasionally managed to spring a surprise away to Lelbourne.
In the race for the Plate, CCM away in five days is looming as a must-win. We SHOULD be and ARE capable of flogging them to give us three straight league wins for the first time since 2010. Plus, I'm going so we'd better win!

Re: How United will win the league.
When looking at the remaining draw i think we would have to be favourites to win the prem.
The rest of the top four still have many tough games where as we have already played most of ours.
Of course this is the aleague though, yesterdays chumps are tomorrows world beaters so its a tough one. Particularly with mid season signings.

Brisbane steal the three points from Wellington! Solorzano scores a 91st minute winner, 3-2. Brisbane responded from being 1-0 down, and then later pegged back 2-2.
