If they suspend him then this is just going to set us back in terms of Asian competition. It will not discourage contact between the last defender and attacker because the defender knows the attacker will be too scared of going to ground.

This is good for the 'moral' side of the game, yes. But what happens when your playing Asian Champions League with a foreign ref and opposition used to 'milking the cow'?

Like Mr. Boogard's situation? Same deal, he made contact and the Bundy player went to ground, but he just disguised it better than Jerry and that was that. Bye bye ACL.

This is part of football out there in the big bad world. Its gamesmanship. Happens in all sports. If Jerry went down without a finger being laid on him, yes, crucify him. But there was some contact. For that reason I think they should just let it go.

If you are the last defender you DO NOT TOUCH the attacking player AT ALL. Simple. Don't give him the opportunity to go to ground and force the ref's hand.

If they suspend Jerry it is kind of like saying, well, the shirt tug and heel clip are OK, which will breed complacency which will be eventually exploited in the ACL by a more 'streetsmart' opposition as we saw with Boogard and United in the ACL.
I agree. You tug on a players arm at any other part of the ground its a free kick and generally a yellow. Everyone knows the rules last man = red. IMO Jero was just smart enough to realise this ref was an idiot and needed prompting to make the right call.

Nail. Head. Jero might cop a warning, but that's it. Ultimately Gillett is at fault for the confusion, he should have blown that whistle earlier.

Thats sound like logic. Pity the FFA don't know what that is.

There's a still floating around on twitter which looks like Sigmund clips Jero's heal as well, but it's hard to tell.
That was also my first thoughts/reaction, that he's clipped Jeronimo's ankle.

Would just like to say that so far our man Dom has been the only one to call one of Jero's goals properly :)

Dom was MoTM in my book! Can't understate how wonderful it was to have a true SA football guru commentating us. I made the point of praising him on twitter with the #FoxFootball hashtag. Get on it!

I'd like to thank Jeronimo for making Wellington supporters hate us.

It feels good to be a hated rival of a team I don't really give a stuff about :)

I think thats the same with Perth. Every game we play them I always read their fans slagging us off. Makes sense that we are rivals with them but rivalries are rarely based on sense!

PG is different, their fans are intense during a match but awesome outside of it. The WP fan response has just been extraordinary.

It feels good to have a killer edge again, haven't had that in years. Kossie and Cassio, kick them while they're down!
