All i know about Melling is what Val wrote in an article about him and Izzo. All Val mentioned was that he was a Liverpool supporter, no news on position, current club, plans for the future. Just who he follows in the EPL. Once again Val asking the tough questions and getting the answers the world wants to hear!
Great news about the other three Kostapoulos and Wooding have been great (although Wooding did spend a lot of time last season injured)

Jacob Melling was the Player of the Tournament at the National Institutes competition in Canberra last year. Played midfield for SASI in the comp. He also received a scholarship for the AIS for this year - so that's why we haven't got him in the squad until January next year - AIS must work on calendar year contracts.

That's what the reports of yesterday's press conference say - whether that means last season, next season, both... I don't know.

Call me slow, but I still read it as van Dijk is our highest paid player therefore is like our marquee player - as Rini was still considering bringing in a marquee player throughout the season.

Whether or not they bump him up to marquee status next season is probably what they were insinuating.

I think with all these senior players going i would love to see rini bring over a CB from the netherlands that he's worked with well before. Especially if they wanted to do a John Aloisi and start up their coaching career here. I think our Defence is a little wet behind the ears.
