Hoping there are clauses that both we and he will benefit from.
According to that article, he'll be on loan with us for the 23-24 season, so we've still got the rest of the season with him - we probably wouldn't keep him much after that anyway. Might give him time to mature after his red card.
Yes we have him until season's end. Something about not being able to sign players under the age of 18. He turns 18 in Feb 2024 so they can't sign him until the transfer window after this.
I'm still not convinced it's the right club for him.
I hope I'm proven wrong.

Australians don't have a great track record of going overseas at a young age and excelling. Hopefully he gets the support he needs.

If the deal goes through I think he would be training / studying here,
https://fcbayern.com/de/teams/fc-bayern-campus
and if all goes well playing here,
https://fcbayern.com/de/teams/fc-bayern-campus/u19
or here
https://fcbayern.com/de/teams/fc-bayern-campus/amateure
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Bayern_Munich_II

Unfortunately when you change the language to English at the top of the Bayern page you either get a blank page or you are re-directed to the first team but the Wiki page gives you a bit of an idea of the second team set up.

(He would also need to learn German.)

Here we go ...

From 11 May on Sport1 YouTube channel in German.

FC Bayern does not trust the quality of the A-League and therefore are not certain where Irankunda's level is so one idea is to send him to LAFC in the MLS so he can get some "solid level" football experience, etc.,
That is one point.

If that's true, why sign him in the first place? It makes no sense. Or maybe they just rely on hysterical news reports rather than doing some **gasp** scouting.

Done deal - official announcement from AU.

Good result for club and player. Fingers crossed it works out.

Now we can all put this distraction aside and focus on the season.

Sorry, I did not translate everything he said just that point but it's clear that their scouts and the club are certain of his quality.
It's the the A-league they think is not so good.

I’m proud of my club.
Gives young local players a chance.
Mentors them well and introduces them gradually, making sure they’re ready before starting them.
Keeps them grounded (as much as they can).
Doesn’t try to stand in their way when opportunities arise for something bigger.
Bravo AUFC.

To Nestory … best wishes for a magnificent career.

Reportedly the fee is only €750k with add-ons for games played with AU for the rest of this season, and if he makes the Bayern first team. Much lower than the £3m reported.

I just hope we have a sell-on clause.

I wonder if there was some last minute re-negotiatons after the red card...

"Ja, but ve have to take into account his wolatile temperament - Ve vill now pay only 750 thousand euro".

So roughly the same as Djite to Gençlerbirliği when inflation is taken into account.

I feel like Adelaide either got screwed, or they've badly misjudged something.

Another day, another transfer amount ‘revealed’.
AUD1.75m + add ons

I can believe big add ons of up to AUD3.85m based on X number of games, X number of goals, and a share of any future transfer.
If that’s what it is then AUFC are gambling on Nestory making it big … and who can blame them.

I would argue that Bruce was by far the better footballer at that stage of his career. Nestor might have more natural talent but his way off being the finished product. His temperament also throws some doubt on whether he will fulfil his potential.

Bayern are taking a bit of a punt on him, and I think the fee fairly reflects that.

I'll admit Djite's career progression was weird and he should have been a bigger deal than he was.

But Irankunda is still two years younger than when Djite made his A-League debut, and he is already at the very least 'as good' as Djite was at that stage he went to Turkey (aged 22). The temperament nonsense is entirely confected and won't be an issue overseas where he is more anonymous.

Two me it suggests one of three things:
  • Adelaide got screwed.
  • The actual market value of young players in general is much lower than expected.
  • Adelaide's finances are dire and this is a fire sale (and Bayern know that)
