Yup premiership comes first imo

Priorities should looks like this
Prem > acl > grandfinal > ffa cup

No doubt acl is the most prestigious

I want them all of course but winning the league when we play every team an odd number of times isn't as meaningful unless you win with at least a few games in hand. I'll still be grinning from ear to ear if we win any of the trophies left to win:)

What do you mean by odd number of times? We play each team the same number of times throughout the season. Nine teams, three times each. Or is this what you mean by odd?

Playing sides once at home and twice away or vice versa is odd IMO. I'd love to see it expanded to twice home twice away.

Agreed. Would extend the season to 36 games. Might be too long with a finals series (not for me, but it will clash more with the AFL and NRL). Possibly in the future the finals series can be scrapped and the FFA Cup will take over?

Alternatively, if we get to 12 teams, they might consider playing each team home and away once to make it 22 rounds.

Championship first for me. We haven't wont it yet, and like it or not its the most important domestic trophy.

But hey, I'm not greedy. All I ask for is a domestic treble

IMO 22 rounds isn't near enough.
Hopefully this decision will aid in the FFA considering how important finals are. ATM is obviously a big earner for them so it won't be a for while.

Agree.

If we do get an extra 2 teams, playing each team three times still, it would mean 33 games a season + finals.

If we play each team 4 times it would be 44 games + finals and probably too long a season.

You need to play each team the same number of times to keep it fair so it will be interesting to see what happens as the competition evolves.

36 rounds as is would be fine IMO. I reckon we could still have finals as well.

From what I've heard AU also agree but some other HAL clubs don't.
For AU the more they play the more they will earn. For clubs like I think Sydney their stadium deal only really benefits them for big games so more games that may get lower crowds isn't in their interest financially.

AU challenging to be part of the 2015 ACL

Postby EdDog Mon Dec 29, 2014 11:46 pm

Yeah exactly. For nearly half the year, clubs get no revenue from gate takings. Is it over half the clubs in loss positions? No wonder.

However, if Adelaide started earning more you can bet the rent would increase!!!

Yeah I think the FFA needs to get involved and ensure clubs can obtain better deals at more suitable stadia.
Sydney only need their home ground about 5 times a season why not look at something smaller for other games. Same goes for Brisbane. Perth and Adelaide are in the opposite position and just need to ensure they can find/afford a larger stadium for their bigger games.
In Sydney and Brisbane's case I wonder if it would be viable for the cities to build a stadium similar to AAMI Park. They both have rugby in the winter so both would get 12 months of use.

why would the government spend money in brisbane and sydney to build a smaller stadium for soccer and rugby, when a stadium already exists.

Its up to the clubs to move away from the stadiums if they're ripping them off. Brisbane might only have the option to play at suncorp.
As for sydney surely, there are centrally located stadiums that they could use for when they play the low attendance games?
