Lol you know what i mean , they are hardly a top tier club these days
Ppl who slap the label of truth on the 1st thing they hear, do it out of ignorance, convenience or cant be bothered picking through a thin layer of falsehood to find the real truth, or possibly even another lie

Gentlemen… (clears throat) – in the best tradition of the Toon Army trying persuade their club not to sell a certain Frenchman, and to the tune of Achy Breaky Heart:
“Don’t sell Mabil…. Awer Mabil,
We just don’t think you understand…
If you sell Mabil… Awer Mabil,
You’re gonna have a riot on yer hands”
Thank you.

Hahaha that's brilliant. I reckon making it into a giant flag and waving it at Hindmarsh would look good Mabil may be slightly confused however. For reference.Good luck to the bat-mabil!
Feel he's a bit too young, still very exciting for him.

The latest: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/adel ... 1ki5k.html
Adelaide United youngster Awer Mabil is edging closer to a move to Ajax following the Dutch giants signing off on a week-long trial.
The young Socceroo is set to move to the Amsterdam club after the Reds' match against Perth Glory on January 5 to stake his claim for a permanent deal with one of Europe's greatest production lines.
The two clubs have been negotiating for several weeks but appear to have reached an agreement for a trial stint to allow Mabil to train under the eye of coach Frank de Boer.
It is understood Ajax director of football and former Dutch international Marc Overmars contacted the club requesting an opportunity to take a closer look at the promising youngster. All that remains now is to finalise the date of the trial.
Mabil caught the eye of Ajax while playing for the under-20 national team and has also attracted interest from at least two other European clubs.
He has two more years left on his deal with the Reds but could leave as early as the January transfer window should he convince Ajax of luring him to the Netherlands.
Adelaide agreed in principle to the formal request for the trial but have not agreed to the sale conditions should the move become permanent.
Adelaide chairman Greg Griffin declined to comment when contacted by Fairfax Media on Tuesday but sources close to the club suggest a divided opinion on whether to accept a lump sum payment or a deal based on future incentives.
Should he sign a permanent deal with Ajax, Mabil will follow in the footsteps of Socceroo Jason Culina and Australian-born Croatian international Joey Didulica in playing for the former European champions.
Mabil's trial is unlikely to disrupt commitments in the A-League as he will go abroad during the break for the Asian Cup.

Re: Awer to Ajax
With Kamau already staking a claim for Mabil's spot it's not too worrying, especially seeing as he's signed till 2017, the financial benefit for the club will be good.
Would be good to see him bought and loaned back to us for further development like Amini with CCM.

Re: Awer to Ajax
im honestly not too concerned for his sake with this move. Ajax are renowned for their youth development programs. i think he would be in good hands there as opposed to signing for a reading or paok or somewhere where his development wont get the attention it needsI desperately hope for his sake he stays in Adelaide.

Belgian champions Anderlecht are reportedly the mystery second club interested in taking Adelaide United flyer Awer Mabil on trial.

Re: Awer to Ajax
Given Gombau's experience with youth, and his confidence in his own coaching ability, I doubt he'd be advising Mabil to move abroad too soon. I think he said something similar in that radio interview. Something along the lines of telling Mabil to "become the best player you can be in this league before moving on".
Again, given Gombau's experience with youth, I don't think Mabil would gain that much from Ajax unless he was playing games, which is a tough thing to guarantee with top European teams. Probably better off to go to Anderlecht and get the game time.

Re: Awer to Ajax
So the latest article states Awer is off on the 8th? Is there any latest on this? I hope his trial goes well and he impresses but I will be extremely surprised if he's offered a permanent deal. He still has so much work to do on his game and he needs to stay in Australia for longer imo.
Blistering pace, good foot skills, powerful shot, but his major flaw is his decision making and sometimes it's downright poor. I really hope he stays in Australia for a bit longer because I truly believe he isn't ready to move overseas yet.

Re: Awer to Ajax
best case scenario - ajax sign him on a 4 or 5 year deal and loan him back to us for the rest of this season and next!
