Re: "Key Reds playmaker Flores in demand" - Will he leave?
surely a marque deal of 1mil + per season for another 3 years has to be put to him.
If Rini doesnt tell the new owners to do this soon, then he will be to blame just as much as the owners will be.
the new owners have come in saying they want to build a profitable club, if so, sign Marcos for another 3 years, his price tag will double in the nxt yr or so and clubs will have to pay more for his services, simple.
Really never want him to leave though, youngsters can learn sooooo much from him.

Re: "Key Reds playmaker Flores in demand" - Will he leave?
My concern is based on past experience of the A-League. In V2 things were going well for the league, but a few players were lost after then and not replaced quickly enough. The drop in standard in V3, I think, really hurt the league- or at least people's perceptions of it (which made it fashionable in some corners to bag the league, even though that got pathetic), even though it's been more than made up since.

I dont believe we should resign him as a marquee,
Lets not forget this is only the A-league, someone like him deserves to test himself in a bigger league. Trying to tie him down here will only work against us in signing up emerging talent in the future.
Letting him go mid season is a terrible idea.
DV i dont think one or two players heading overseas will hurt the standard of the league now, coaching standards (atleast with most clubs) is much better now, there is also young talent emerging from everywhere,

Painting them Double Blue maybe? If we sell him I'm going to "burn" the North Adelaide Club rooms down!!
Or Black and Yellow?
Less inflammatory if you get my drift.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/us- ... 5962710821"Of course you have dreams (of playing at a higher level)," Flores said.
"Of course (I'll consider it).
"I'm really proud that big teams are following me."
"I am focussing on this league and I'm trying to get better.
"But when this season is finished and everyone is relaxed, I hope to be happy because I want to win and after we can talk about that (moving)."
Coming here for him was a big experiment and if he only got fit and "built up his muscles" he would have been happy.
Now the man is kicking arse all over the A-league and is propelling/beguiling/enchanting his/our/the team towards it's first Championship.
I don't think he is going anywhere in January.

OK so January's coming up, so Val has used some journalistic common sense and realised that Marcos might be Adelaide's most in demand man. There's your story, nothing more.

He can easily be sold in the transfer window with his contract to his new club starting upon the completion of our domestic season.

what about everyone that's bought viva flores! shirts?
Re: "Key Reds playmaker Flores in demand" - Will he leave?
Surely he'll hang around until the end of the season, there's no way that he'd blow smoke up our arses about loving the club and winning trophies before buggering off to Japan for some easy dollars in January. I'd really like us to get him to sign an extension, even if he wants out - I'm sick of watching our best players get shipped out for next to nothing.

I doubt he will go in January, at seasons end maybe and if we get decent $$ for him then i'll be ok with it. I trust Rini's ability to find a decent replacement.
