I can't wait to see more of our new imports. Neumann has looked good to me and so did Ferreira and Carrusca in the limited time they had against the jets.
Ono is class too.

Ferreira's run to the touchline, out playing Goodwin, and then proceeding to cut in towards goal was very impressive.

Ferreira is exciting. Once he's made that 100% perfect understanding with each teammate - wow.

It has only been one game so I don't want to be too eager but damn! Our imports are good.
I cannot believe Neumann who was a cheap, nobody signing, has already earned a starting spot after 3 goals in preseason including one against Buny and now has put in a near MOTM performance in rd 1 (after Vido who was sublime).
And he's not even supposed to be our best one!

Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
Of the three Carrusca seemed the best on paper - and straight out of the Argentine Primera - and we haven't even really seen him yet. But if he's anything like the other two, hot damn! In the immortal words of Big Kev, I'm excited.
P.S. 17C and a shower or two clearing is the forecast. Doesn't sound too bad.

Van Dijk, McKain, Fyfe and Barbiero are all eligible for Fridays game. Selection headaches for Kossie.
Its so exciting to not be able to predict our starting lineup, so much talent across the park. Bring on Friday.

It's interesting, I would like to see Golec get some more time in CD. He has pace and is not a bad passer. If we press with a high line we need players that can recover well when the ball's lobbed over the back Bunyodkor style. My concern with him is that he may get out of position sometimes in his desire to get forward.Van Dijk, McKain, Fyfe and Barbiero are all eligible for Fridays game. Selection headaches for Kossie.

Saying that he is probably the only one that could make way for Fyfe or McKain. It would be harsh to drop him completely after his last performance but it's quite likely. 3 outfield players on the bench is a joke!

Hear, hear.
Also hope that Kossie doesn't shoehorn Barbiero straight back into the lineup.

Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
Surely Golec won't lose his spot, strong defensively, quick and looks the most comfortable out of all the defenders when playing out from the back.
Would be bitterly disappointed if Barbs came back in for Malik, wouldn't mind if he replaced Watson though.
This is what I'd like to see, try to be as realistic as possible.
------------Eugene----------
Bowles-Boogaard-Golec-Cassio
--------Malik--Barbs-------
-Jeronimo--Vidosic--Ramsay
------------Djite-----------
Bench: Izzo/Hall, Fyfe/Watson, Carrusca, Ferriera.
No idea how bad Serg's injury is, if he's fit obviously one of Carrusca & Ferriera will drop out but would like to see them both feature again. Not fussed who's in out of Fyfe & Watson, both are fairly versatile and can play defence or midfield.
Add in Jake 'Bangladesh' Barker-Daish, McKain, Caravella & Evan and we have some seriously good depth.
I think we are 1 central midfielder away from having a championship contending squad, Barbs & Watson are still squaddies for mine.

Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
I would probably go with the same starting lineup as last week - maybe Ramsay out and either Ferreira or Carrusca in, but would understand if Kossie wanted to keep those two as impact players for now. Watson is much better than Barbiero in providing structure, very settled on the ball and good passing range, I think he & Malik may well turn out to be the preferred CM pairing for the year. Malik was great last weekend - huge year ahead for him!

Malik-Watson
Neumann-Vidosic-Ramsay

Subs- Hall, Carrusca, Ferriera, Boogard
Van Dijk can have another week to deal with his injury, Fyfe and Barbs, especially Barbs can have an extra game off to think about whether giving away constant yellow cards in finals football is helpful to the team or not. I think Watson has had a couple of good games and deserves his spot this week as with Golec.
So hard to choose a starting XI

i would stick with the same team as last week , i would drop baker-daish for fyfe to give us defensive cover, i am open to the above team, im just think boogers and golec did allright
Re: AUFC v Western Sydney
Wow when all fit, we actually have too many good players to even make the bench.
Caravella to come back in too!
Almost too many options!!

Jeronimo-Vidosic-Ramsey
Djite-Carrusca
Serg-Ferriera-Mckain and Hall/Izzo
Boogard should not be in the Reds team to many stupid mistakes. Malik is good enough to play as the only defensive mid. Also by playing Carrusca up front gives us another target and helps Bruce with the workload. Every position is covered on the bench!
