My info is that Marcos is seeking a meeting with the club to discuss signing an extension to his current deal as a marquee. If they can't offer him terms then he will accept the Portland offer

This is the litmus test for Rini and the owners. Their actions - and the fans (our) reaction - will be very, very interesting.

Personally I think he's worth more to the club here and I hope he stays. Can't say I'm entirely confident though.

Can a player start studying for FIFA coaching certificates at any time? Perhaps that's a contract option. His love of the game and mentoring kids is in no doubt.

Lets hope the club can keep him here as he is the perfect player to build the the next 2/3 years around.

This really is one guy we need to chase a signature from instead of turning him into a profit as he works for this club on so many more levels then just on the pitch

I'm pretty sure Ryan Giggs is doing something like that now.

It would be good for AU to sponsor him or anyone else they would like to keep on maybe to ensure they stay with us a bit more.
Kinda like what Accounting firms do with Charted Accountant training, if a staff members leaves in the first two years of their employment with the firm that paid for their training they have to pay back the difference to the firm.

Yeah they can. I'm not sure what the eligibility criteria is, but I know some academies (West Ham for example) encourage their boys to start getting their basic badges even in their teens.

He could apply for the AFC C Licence right now and finish it this off-season, if he wants. He can do the community courses in the meantime, too, which would be a little extra boost (and would be beneficial if he were to help mentor kids, despite the courses themselves not being excellent).

... Would Portland like to loan him for 6 months for that amount of money, instead?

If he got some coaching qualifications we could always put some of his salary in as a "specialist coach" like Melbourne did for muscat thus dodging the cap
