Disappointing after a first half where we could have just about our the game to bed if we’d taken our chances.
At least Sydney concentrate on playing football, and that’s more than you can say for Auckland.
An away loss to Sydney, for only our 2nd loss of the season, isn’t the end of the world.

Wow that was pretty atrocious really. Poor at the back but even poorer up front. Becoming a bit of a theme now but watching play intricate passes to open space to then watch the killer pass or through ball fail over and over again cost us.
Agree on our depth, there isn’t much and it really showed today.

Otto62 that’s all u got , a loss to Sydney is not bad , that was a dreadful performance both in attack and defence, not to mention our lack of depth which I have mentioned on numerous times , time to call out the short falls not lies we hear from the people who refuse to call out the above

A truly dreadful performance in attack would have been to not create any chances, but that didn’t happen. We looked dangerous and should have put away more of our chances.Otto62 that’s all u got , a loss to Sydney is not bad , that was a dreadful performance both in attack and defence, not to mention our lack of depth which I have mentioned on numerous times , time to call out the short falls not lies we hear from the people who refuse to call out the above
Having said that, yes, there was definitely poor choices or passes or finishing in their box on a number of occasions. I’m very confident Carl will be livid with that & will let the players know.
Our lack of depth is due to our chosen path of promoting young South Australian players, rather than stacking our squad with proven a-league veterans. And I’m happy with that path.
A truly dreadful performance in defence …. it wasn’t great was it. Talladira was playing his first game. (As per our plan to promote local youth, but maybe he gets a chance earlier than the staff might have preferred?) Also, I mentioned a game or two ago that I felt Vriends had dropped off from the standards he set at the start. I reckon he’s still not showing us his best at the moment.
Now … despite all that, we ARE still 2nd. Not only that, but we have games in hand on the chasing pack. Also, we have a really good goal difference. Plus, we are one of the top scorers in the league. And, we do have a points gap on the chasing pack. Finally, we’re playing exciting attacking football, rather than 1-0-ing our way through the season.
We are having an excellent season!

We did not deserve to win that game. On the other hand, we did not deserve to lose the way we did. The A-League is such that it's all pretty even, which was the point but doesn't make it easier to see your team defeated. We didn't deserve to win that game but on the other hand, I can't be happy that we threw away a game that was so easy to win.

Played like we'd been given some bad news before kick off. Again give our opposition way too much space in defence. As usual if we could just finish that last touch when attacking we could have had 4 goals also.

Hey otto26 , I doubt u would find anything wrong with the club no matter how bad they were , it’s great to be that patriotic , but it doesn’t call out the way we perform on the field , since day one we have missed simple goals or butchered great chances , yet veart doesn’t same to address this problem

On the other hand, I doubt you would find positives in the face of any loss, even if we were 10 points clear on top of the league.
IMO Veart can only play the cattle he has. And so far, overall, those players have got us where we are. Which is 2nd.

The positive is that we created a lot of chances and had a significantly higher xG than Sydney.
Unfortunately we didn’t convert our chances and that has been a running theme.
We also cannot defend at all. The goal straight after half-time in particular was extremely poor. We desperately need an assistant coach who specialises in the art of defence.

Makes you wonder what Milligan was doing tbh. Cos it's not as if we were any better in that department before he left.
